Newest Baby

in babies •  7 years ago

Here is our newest little one.  He was born on Mother's Day around 8:30 pm.

Here is picture to try to put it into perspective as to how small he is.

Here he is with his mama.

He has been struggling. Yesterday he slept most of the day, which is not a bad thing but he also looked very lethargic. He wasn't drinking from his mama so I was bottle feeding him.  He is drinking 1 ounce every two hours.  I also put a couple of drops of molasses in his milk yesterday to give him a vitamin boost.  It seemed to perk him up last night.  Today he is up and around but it is a cooler day so he is not as vibrant as he should be.  We still need to watch him for the next 48 hours.  I am really hoping the cool temperatures don't set him back again.  Today he is drinking off his mama so this is an improvement.

Seeing as this post is about babies, here is a update of the baby ducks.  They are beginning to grow their feathers.  Now they are beginning to swim at the edge of the dugout.  I have been watching them and they will go out just a bit to pratice swimming.  They are able to float quite well.

Here are three of the other kids.  They are running and jumping.  They are all over the place.  It is hard to get a picture of them unless they are sleeping.

I love good goat milk and goat cheese. Other than watching the little critters antics the milk and cheese are the best things. Blessings.

Thanks for this, it's nice to see those little ones all over the place and having some fun by jumping here and there.

New one looks great and it's nice to see that with it's mom.

Thanks again for sharing these wonderful pics.

Unfornately he didn't make it. He was so small. We are thinking he was premature. He should have been able to drink 4 ounces of milk and he was only drinking 1 ounce.

At least the up side is now we will have some good milk to drink.

Ah, sad to know that it didn't make it.

I am sure it's a learning process for you to know about the baby goats and the behavior of those to know about the health condition of those.

Have a good day :)

Yes the little guy was just not developed enough. Sometimes no matter how hard I try to keep them alive they are just destined to live a short life. I am glad then he was not suffering. Living this way really makes us realize that every life has it's own path.

We learn all the time about the different health aspects of the animals and plants here. There is never a dull moment. Always something to learn or do.

I am sure you tried your best to get it well, but as you said, it's destiny on earth was may be only few days.
Learning about animals is special considering they don't speak and can't even express their pain, just like small kids.

Yes that is for sure. We do have to interpret what they are going through. Sometimes it is difficult. Even with babies it can be difficult to know what they need.

Definitely not an easy task, but someone like you, who has been with those grown ones and little ones, will have extra command in understanding the gestures and barking of those animals :)

Thank you so much. I am still learning as well.

Lovely photos @carey-page I was sad to read in your comments that this little kid didn't survive. It must be wonderful having animals around you and being tin a position to care for them.

Yes it was sad that he did not make it. Having all these animals to care for really reminds me that there are beginnings and endings. Not all beings are ment to live a long life. Every path is different.

Thanks so much for stopping by. :)

I think that is the right attitude to have when dealing with animals @carey-page As long as they are loved and cared for while they are with us......that is the important thing.

Thank you so much @trudeehunter. I agree.
