Baby boomers still have a decent base where they will continue to have an influence on elections. Adding up the top ten states where the highest concentration live, it adds up to 72 electoral votes. Add in a few big states like, CA, FL, TX, IL, NY, PA, NJ and you have 278 electoral votes and the Presidency. All a candidate would have to do is pander to the elderly baby boomers, liberals and minorities. They would win 17 states while middle America is forgotten once again. Give a few all they want to control the rest.
Same would apply to our local representatives and senators. Look at where the highest concentration of baby boomers in their voting district. Pander to that crowd, forget the rest of their constituents and keep on getting elected until the baby boomers die off. http://www.governing.com/gov-data/baby-boomers-county-population-map.html
While in theory voting the baby boomers out of office sounds great. Practically if might be much harder than we realize.
I believe the only way we will ever have real change is to push for term limits. With term limits, baby boomers would be automatically stopped from re-election if they served more than two terms of four years. Change the House elections to every four years of two terms max. Change the Senate term from six years to four years of two terms. You can only serve two terms for either the house or senate. Once you were a senator you could never run for the house. Same would apply for house members, after serving two terms in the house, they would not be allowed to run for the senate. This would stop career politicians from being a representative ,then jump over the senate, hoping they could get a cabinet appointment if their party won the Presidency. If you give a career politician an inch, they will take a mile. The swamp creatures do not want to go home where they belong.
Even if we voted out all the baby boomers. The career generation x politician swamp creatures have learned well from the baby boomers on how to be a dishonest politician. Seriously most of congress has to go, even the generation x members. Nothing will change in DC until there are term limits.
While the baby boomers are aweful, they are not "different" They are the same people in a different set of circumstances. It's easy to blame them for problems, but switching out the criminals with different aged criminals is not going to be less or better, it's just going to be different (slightly). Probably more radically anti-population. The snowflakes really want to go after alt media.
The best way to reduce government is to let bitcoin do it. The dollar has to die.
While term limits would help, there are many problems with it
We already have term limits. People are limited to the number of terms they can win elections for
It's going after a symptom of the problem and not the real problem
elections are rigged
it does nothing to improve the intelligence of voters
The big money can still get their candidates in, and hire them back when they reach the limit
There should be no reelections whatsoever. If you want, terms could be a little longer 4/8/6 house/senate/president, but these are minor details. Overall, term limits are deck chairs on the titanic.
Look at the states with the highest percentage of baby boomers. http://www.aarp.org/politics-society/history/info-2014/map-where-boomers-live.html#/ME
