Sometimes we are so focused on our roles or responsibilities and forget about our own self.

Lakas declined the offer of Lakam which is to take over the throne and rule sansinukob and one of its area intended for the mangangalakal. Reasons: Lakas had learned to cherish and love the life they had in disyerto where they were exiled. This is what they are about and couldn't see himself being anywhere else. Dakim on the other hand who is part of an older generation wants to claim what they had lost and emancipate their race who are referred to as mandirigma with no glory. He wants to go back to the place of mangangalakal where they are originally from. The other reason for Lakas to decline is there is someone fit to rule the mangangalakal race and that is Lakam.

Lakam's father is all about ambition and power which is his total opposite hence he doesn't have the guts to take over. In the end Lakam agreed to Lakas's suggestion and Dakim was appointed as an ambassador.
