There was actually some research undertaken to define what came first, the chicken or the egg. From memory, given that avian life evolved from reptiles the logical answer would be that the egg came first.
I have no problem at all having apes as ancestors. We're all animals after all so believing that you're any better than another animal on this planet is quite simply your ego talking. You're no more significant than the cockroach that you step on in the greater scheme of things.
So I suppose that really means that what you believe really doesn't matter all that much either, just as what I believe doesn't hold that much weight. It's actions that result in real change. The key issue with all of this is that there is quite simply no change in the gene pool. It’s been proven many times over that you simply can not create a population with zero genetic diversity. It can’t happen.
