"Declined payout" means that the author doesn't want the payout generated from the upvotes. His or her payout will be returned to the rewards pool (or rather not distributed at all).

On the other hand, a high payout, even if it's declined, can put the post on the trending page.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam
