Welcome back to the fifth episode of our tour of the Bangladesh National Museum! In our previous episode, we explored the sculpture gallery, which showcases various sculptures and terracotta works from ancient to modern times.

Today, we will be heading to the natural history gallery, which is located on the second floor of the main building. This gallery features a diverse collection of animal and plant specimens from Bangladesh and other parts of the world.

The natural history gallery is divided into several sections, each highlighting a different aspect of the natural world. The first section showcases the geological history of Bangladesh, with exhibits displaying fossils and minerals found in the country. This section also includes a model of the St. Martin's Island, which is a popular tourist destination located in the Bay of Bengal.

Moving on, we come to the zoological section of the gallery, which displays a range of animal specimens including mammals, birds, reptiles, and fish. Some of the highlights of this section include a Bengal tiger, a spotted deer, a python, and a crocodile.

In addition to the animal specimens, there is also a section dedicated to the plant kingdom. This section displays a variety of plants, including rare and endangered species, and provides information on their uses and importance in the ecosystem.

Finally, there is a section dedicated to the marine life of Bangladesh, which includes specimens of various sea creatures such as crabs, lobsters, and sea urchins. The highlight of this section is a replica of a whale, which is suspended from the ceiling and gives visitors a sense of the size and majesty of these magnificent creatures.

The natural history gallery at the Bangladesh National Museum provides a fascinating insight into the natural world, and is a must-visit for anyone interested in biology, ecology, and the environment.

That concludes our tour of the natural history gallery at the Bangladesh National Museum. In our next episode, we will explore the contemporary art gallery, which showcases the works of modern and contemporary artists from Bangladesh and around the world.
