According to Bloomberg’s World Exchange Market Capitalisation Index the total value of global equity markets is a staggering $USD76.3 trillion.
A staggering amount. But, while this is huge figure the size of financial assets that are not securitised may be many times larger.
Most assets are non-fungible meaning that they are not easily transferable or turned into securities.
Actually securitising this assets can be expensive. It requires valuation and ratings from independent auditors.
That was until now. Blockchain technology is having a transformational impact on all types of assets.
One such area is the ability to give assets which were previously non-fungible a digital representation in the form of a token.
Pioneering this process called “Proof-of-Asset” or POA is a BANKEX.
You might be wondering then exactly what type of assets are suitable for this kind of tokenisation.
In fact almost all types of assets are actually suitable for tokenisation - although some are more suitable than others.
The reason for this is the speed with which a digital token on the blockchain can be traded. A token which is on decentralised blockchain can typically traded in less than ten to thirty minutes with a high degree of liquidity
Many assets currently take longer than this to typically sell. this includes private equities, real estate and bonds. Other assets like Art and Infrastructure may take even longer.
Anything that would normally take more than a day to sell is likely a good potential candidate for tokenisation.
There are assets that would not be suitable for tokenisation. Stocks, options and currencies are all able to traded in seconds or less. As such they would not be suitable for tokenisation.
One of the interesting things about the idea of tokenising assets is that it avoids one of the major problems facing blockchain like Ethereum and Bitcoin. Currently this blockchain are struggling to serve as a medium of exchange because they are not fast enough for option of sale transaction. In the case of transaction such as instantaneous transactions are even essential because the typical transaction time for these types of assets is already so long.
Token Sale
The BANKEX platform is funding its development through the distribution of the BKX token in a crowd sale. The crowd sale is looking to raise at least 20 million BKX and has a limit of 220 million BKX. The minimum contribution for the token sale is 0.1 ETH.
