Forget free speech, paid speech is coming

There's a part of me that wants to be paid for stating facts. The realist in me however recognizes that the only speech I'll be paid for will be clever lies.

Prove me wrong if you can, because I'd love to be wrong. If not, prepare for the flag wars to come. I'm not known for flagging, but that actually is because I respect freedom of speech. Presently a flag war is ongoing that is impacting the Steem blockchain, and the price of Steem IMHO, and I've had enough of the crap. I'm flagging the flaggots preventing our Steem from appreciating along with the market where they impact me personally, on my blog or comments.

I hope you join me, as do the bulk of our community. It's time to put an end to roguery that has cost us all capital gains, and Steem was designed to enable the community to control this kind of abuse. You may recall that I am not a joiner, am not one of the herd. I have stepped out front in this matter, but will not be successful on my own. Unless the rest of the community - or at least a nominal percentage - joins me in suppressing the flaggotry, Steem will continue to stagnate, and our capital gains will languish.

I won't lie, no matter how much pay is offered. I also will no longer tolerate my blog being a playground for flaggotry. When the community takes a stand against abuse, that abuse will end. We're here for free speech, to be honest, not to accumulate tokens. Steem will have no value, and our accumulations will have no value, without the freedom of speech that underlies that societal value.

Irrespective of how Steem was intended to function, it has become a platform where you can pay to be heard. At least Dan is honest about it... Steem has become a platform that encourages rogue illegal content, hate speech, and other abuse, in addition to paid speech. At least the bid bot owners have guidelines in place so the harmful content is suppressed.

If you want to fix flagging abuse, you'll have to significantly overhaul how Steem works. In its current state, abusive flagging is a fundamental feature of the platform.

From a staunch supporter to a disillusioned critic. I think it takes about 1.5 years - 2 years. 😕

At this point id just leave it all alone. The flag abuse, the mentally unstable whales, the bid bot perversion, the selfishness, the circle jerks. Leave all that alone since there is no fixing it. Right now someone like Bernie or ftg do more bad for the platform then a community of a couple hundred people could ever do good, to cancel it out. Thats just the way it is. People ask how can people like dictators exist. People that when given power turn to hurting others and abusing that power. You can observe the same thing here on a platform where you are encouraged to share, to do good, to avoid conflict, to help people because that is good for your investment, some will still choose to be abusers. (In the literal sense of the word)
When steem was made, i dont think human nature and other things related were accounted for.
Give a mentally unstable person or a real life abuser 500k and see what happens. And a lot can happen.
Those things should have been accounted for, and tools put in place to counter it.
Powers that be are either incompetent to change anything or fear the response so they dont want to change anything.

So i say, instead focus on hype and marketing. Get Steem talked about. Embellish things if need be. The onboarding is terrible so our focus shouldnt be on getting people here, they will come when the price goes up...
The community still has maybe 2-3 whales that can move the community to do something positive. Thats the best bet. Move our asses and hope the abusers will eventually sell out and leave.
