Grilled oysters and beer is probably the best combo when it comes to appetizers. Not just appetizers, they can be served as a full meal with a bowl of rice, as well.
The tang of brine and creamy meat go so well together in your mouth that it will get you swooning in no time.
Some may like their oysters raw, some like them cooked or grilled. This recipe is for those who like to pep up their barbeque with meat. Don’t leave out the creamy goodness and soak up the grilled, buttery and briney juice of the oysters with pieces of bread!
INGREDIENTS
Oysters - 12
Butter - ½ cup
Garlic cloves - 1 tsp, grated
Parsley leaves - 1 tsp
Parmesan cheese - ½ cup
Cayenne pepper - 1 tsp
Smoked paprika - 2 tsp
Onion powder - 1tsp
Lemon juice - 1 tsp
Chunks of bread - optional
Oyster knife - 1 (tool)
- Take a bowl, and add in the butter and beat until soft and fluffy. Make sure the butter is at room temperature. You won’t get the fluffiness, otherwise.
- Add in the grated Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley and the remaining spices. Oysters taste better when they are spicy but you may vary the amount of paprika used and add in the right amount you desire.
- Make sure that everything is incorporated well with the butter.
- Take a cling film, and spread a thick layer of the butter mixture over it. Fold it and try wrapping the cling film just like a candy is wrapped in a cover and freeze it for about half an hour.
- The point is to cut slices of the butter mixture and put it over the oyster shells before grilling.
- Meanwhile the butter is freezing, you can cut open your oysters.
- For that, take a kitchen towel and fold it up and place it on your table. Place an oyster (curved end on the bottom) on one end of the towel and put the other end over the top of the oyster. This helps you get a good hold of the shells.
- Now look for the hinge between the two shells and a slight gap through which you will open the shell with the knife. Try entering the shell with the knife and when you here a pop, twist the knife. This will open it up further. Scrape the meat with the knife and make sure all of the meat is in the curved end of the shell. Repeat the process until you open up all of the oysters.
- Now these oysters are ready to be grilled.
- Place all the oysters together and squeeze the lemon over them. Now slice up the butter and put each slice over each oyster.
- Use tongs to place them all on the barbeque and place the lid over it
- Let them grill for about five minutes.
- After five long minutes, take them out using the same tongs.
- Squeeze the rest of the lemon juice over the oysters.
The butter and cheese melt into the core of the oyster giving each slurp a rich buttery, creamy, spicy and salty taste. It’s an all in one meal!
Enjoy with chunks of bread and soak in the creamy richness of oysters with friends and family.
