Dr. Stravinski

When I was in Barcelona ✌ this past month I stumbled upon a bar which I've been itching to write about. I happened to end up there quite by chance, but most certainly don't regret it. The night started out with my girlfriend and I trying to get Flemenco Show tickets, which weren't too easy to buy. having spent what felt like a while trying to decide which show to go to we agreed to chuck that idea and grab drinks at Gothic Quarters. For those of you not familiar with this patch of area in the midst of the city of Barcelona, getting lost 🚶 in these streets is an understatement :joy:. Say goodbye 👋 to Google Maps, Waze, Map Quest or any other dependable GPA app because in Gothic Quarters the streets are narrow and winding and there isn't really a frame of reference of which direction one is going.

We happened to bump into a smoker who was just chllin in the area and happened to ask if we were lost. I asked him for a smoke since I needed one after all the circling around. We follow is lead to the cocktail bar called Dr. Stravinski. I'm a fan of gin based concoctions and was craving some fancy libations. The venue was a dimly lit, two storied and resembled a vintage laboratory since it was filled with flasks, beakers, and test tubes.

The alchemist like den is full of surprised in every glass. The Camp Nou is what I would recommend to anyone visiting for the first time. It's made with a syrup of dill, thyme 🌿 and coriander, house-distilled gin, lime and camomile, has a freshness and flavor like nothing you've ever tried.

This place is a bar like none other. The banter in the background is mostly in Spanish and you'll occasionally see a few tourists here and there who stick out like sore thumbs but predominantly this a local yet exquisite 💎 cocktail lounge.

The menu mostly caters to a Gin / Vodka / Tequila based crowd so don't feel disappointed if whiskey only floats your boat. The music ranges from Contemporary Jazz to Alternative with seamless transitions making it feel like you're at a Great Gatsby party in the 1920's era. Dr. Stravinski brings to life a certain jazzy vibe 👓 which strikes a new age neo-classical chord, it reminds me of how The New York Times once described F. Scott Fitzgerald's retro age American era - “Gin was the national drink and sex the national obsession.”
