History below us

In most european cities, we are living just above history.

Some months ago I was guiding some friends from the United States visiting the city. When I brought them to a 2.000 year old part of the city, or streets with more than 800 years of history they were amazed. I tried to watch my city with their eyes and tried to see their fascination of what is normal for me... for a people in a country that 200 year old things are old, seeing things that are older of your country should amaze you. And they were able to touch stone columns of a roman temple of more than 2000 years old!

Is like Gaudi's Sagrada Familia... I've been walking by its side for more than 14 years, as it was in the path from home to school, and seeing it, for me, it's nothing outstanding.

Recovering the original topic. This weekend we visited a friend in his new house and we found a surprise, in front of his balcony there is an archaeological excavation! IMG_20180203_170652.jpg
He investigated it, those are the rests, that were found a couple of years ago, of a defensive tower dated 700 years ago. It was planned, originally, to have a building like the one of the right of the photography, but the finding of those tower changed the original plans.... one building less as it is not allowed to destroy archaeological findings like this, and move it it's not easy, as the importance of this site it's not only of the stones and other thinkgs like tools, is where they are found and the type of earth, to validate the age of the findings...

What can we find buried below our feet that can show us history?

maybe what has been destroyed will be replaced with better

Maybe... first know how have it been destroyed... and how people lived there. Knowing your past will give you tools to avoid repeat previous mistakes. ;)
