95% of the time, I walk barefoot. Why? Well, it has multiple reasons.
Let me answer the most frequently asked questions. I get them almost every day, and that's ok. I know that it's not really a 'normal' thing in the eyes of most people, but hey, I'm not either, so I got that going for me.
Question: Isn't it cold? And... do you also walk barefoot in winter?
Answer: It can be cold, but shall I tell you a secret? I absolutely hate having warm feet. It makes me feel incredibly uncomfortable. Having cold feet makes me feel at ease. I just really, really like it.
And yes, I also walk barefoot in winter. Even when it is snowing. Not for too long though, even I am not immune to frostbite. ;)
Question: Aren't you afraid of stepping in glass?
Answer: Glass is totally overrated! If you would ask me if I am afraid of stepping in thorns or something like that, that's much more likely (and more painful) for me to step on as glass, since I live in a forest.
Burning nettles can be really annoying too. But over all, no, I'm not afraid of it.
Question: Do you have any shoes? And when do you wear them?
Answer: I DO have shoes. Even more then you'd expect of me. If I ever wear shoes, for example if I go to a doctor or some other formal occasion in which it would be too weird not to wear them, then I usually go for my favorite pointy shoes. I've got a whole collection of them!
Question: Have you ever hurt your feet really bad?
Answer: Yes, multiple times, but it doesn't stop me from walking barefoot.
This one time, I scratched the surface of the street really bad, and just continued running, but after a few meters, I felt some itching. I looked down, to see a trial of blood running from behind me. I seemed to have lost a toe nail. Weird, cause it didn't hurt... at first. It was after a few minutes that the pain started to come. Hell, that thing hurted! Luckally, the nail grew back fully.
Question: Do you walk barefoot because of your religion?
Answer: No. I don't even feel like I really have a religion. Although I do have my beliefs. But no, I just do it because I feel comfortable doing it, and not for any other reason.
Question: Do you like to provoke people with it?
Answer: No, I don't do that. The only reason I walk barefoot is because I love to do it.
Question: How old were you when you started walking barefoot?
Answer: I think I was about 4 years old when I actively began walking barefoot. I don't really remember, though, since it started really soon in my life.
Question: Don't you get sick a lot from walking barefoot?
Answer: No, I don't think I get sick that much, and I'm sure it isn't related to my feet.
Question: You must love the barefoot path!
Answer: Actually, I've never tried it. I have a barefoot world, why would I need a barefoot path? ;)
So yeah, in conclusion: I just really like to walk barefoot, and just don't like the feeling of shoes around my feet. No other real reasons for it.
Feel free to try it too, no matter what the people around you say or think. Maybe it's also your new thing!
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask them in the comments.
Lots of hugs,
Elvya

I get very cold feet and I live in England so it's not ideal for me to go barefoot, but I have walked out barefoot before in summer and it's a liberating feeling; I get why you like it.

I love this so much!
I have recently started barefoot-ing (is that a term?) as much as i can. I have a couple pair of minimalist shoes for while in town, mostly because my feet arent nice & tough yet.
I encourage my girls to go barefoot too.
