2 Ocak 1943 tarihinde İstanbul 'un Kadıköy ilçesinin Moda semtinde dünyaya geldi. Annesinin sanat müziği sanatçısı olması sebebiyle genetik yoluyla aktarımı muhtemel olan yeteneğiyle henüz liseye başlamadan müzikle ilgilenmeye ve eğitim almaya başladı. Lise yılları ise Galatasaray Lisesi 'nde geçti.

Henüz lise yıllarında arkadaşlarıyla beraber Kafadarlar ve Harmoniler isimli iki müzik grubu kurdu. Lise bitince Belçika 'da sanat eğitimi aldı. Türkiye 'ye dönüşünde Fuat ve Mazhar kardeşler ile Kaygısızlar grubunu kurdular.
Günleri, ayları, yılları dolu dolu geçti. 200den fazla şarkı besteledi. Şarkıları birçok dile tercüme edildi.
Bu güzel insan 1999 yılının şubat ayının ilk günü başka diyarlara göçtü. Nur kalpli dedemiz rahat uyusun.
