Meet Barry Cooper: Former Drug Agent with an Inspirational Story

I love finding genuinely kind and loving people in the world; the kind of people whose words match their actions. The kind of people who are not afraid to show their emotions, because in those emotions are life experiences that have led them to become gentle and empathetic lovers. Thus, they are able to inspire others with their story, and help in the process of healing humanity.

There is no one on earth more deserving of this description than Barry Cooper. His life story is beautiful and inspiring. To me, he is proof that humanity is moving forward to reach its highest potential.

Meet Barry Cooper

Years ago, if Barry had shown up at my door, my heart would have pounded out of my chest. I probably would have tried to escape before having to meet him face-to-face. Why? Because at one point this goofy and kindred soul worked as a drug enforcer, and he was very good at his job. During his hard-working years as a narcotics officer, he managed to imprison numerous people for victimless crimes.

Today, I would fearlessly welcome Barry into my home, because at some point Barry realized that it was immoral to throw people in cages for victimless crimes. He realized that punishing peaceful people does more harm than good, so he decided to flip the light switch and steered onto a gentler path. The former drug enforcer-now-turned-anarchist is no longer helping to keep humanity's conscious growth stagnant. He is now hard at work to help it flourish.

I think people who are sensitive and loving can recognize others with the same level of sensitivity and love. I rarely find people who are as sensitive as I am, but I think Barry even has me beat. He is one of the most empathetic people I have ever met, and he genuinely cares about the well-being of others. Sometimes it takes hard lessons to become your greatest and most beautiful you. But in the end, it's worth it because you get to bring so much back with you and share your story with others.

Barry now lives in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and helps numerous people in numerous different ways (myself, included). He has produced a series of videos to show individuals "how to counter techniques used to arrest drug users and dealers." He is the CEO of NeverGetBusted and successfully helps people avoid being locked in a cage for peaceful acts of self-ownership. Check out how Barry helped a man walk free after getting caught with thirty-six pounds of marijuana here.

Barry also runs an Ayahuasca and Ibogaine retreat in Puerto Vallarta. As an Ayahuasca (and I'm sure in the future, Ibogaine) advocate myself, I know exactly how sacred it is to be able to administer these plants to others. I have a deep understanding of the potential they have to heal the emotional state of mind. I know Barry does, too.

I am so honored to be assisting in the world's largest ayahuasca ceremony with Barry this upcoming year. It will take place after the greatest Anarchy conference I've ever been to, Anarchapulco. To be honest, there is no one I would rather work with, especially when it comes to Ayahuasca. As I've noted, Barry has a big heart, and I know he understands how sacred this medicine is. This is the largest Ayahuasca ceremony known to human history, and I'm so beyond excited to be a part of it!

The first time I talked to Barry was over a private message in Facebook in April of this year. At that time, I was aimlessly swimming through the darkest period of my life. I had very few people I could reach out to at this time, but fortunately one dark morning, Barry reached out to me.

He invited me to his retreat center and kindly told me to "come get healed." In those words I found comfort that someone who I barely knew was kind enough to offer help. I became curious and started researching his story. He had recently shared a video where he helped treat a girl who was addicted to Meth. After eight days of Ibogaine therapy, she came out absolutely glowing. No urges. No withdrawals. All smiles. She was connected to life again!

And that's when I realized...

This man's path eventually led him down a road that helps to heal individuals on a very profound level. He assists them in the process of re-opening their hearts and reconnecting to themselves and others.

And THAT, I believe, is what truly saves lives.

@maceytomlin,
I am humbled that you think of me like you beautifully wrote. A big sincere thanks for expressing such wonderful thoughts toward me. NeverGetBusted is lucky to have you on the Ayahuasca team. I wished words could express how I felt about you writing these things about me. I embarrassed to have been given so much honor. I hope I can hold up to how you painted me. Big love and big hug. I upvoted you of course! lol.

@barrycooper,
I would not have written an article about you if I did not see you changing the world for the better. But I do see that!

I co-sign 100%!! What a beautiful post and gesture, @maceytomlin. Barry is a rare breed of man. Empathic. Sensitive to people and plants. A huge gift to our communities. Thank you for doing this feature. I'm humbled and thrilled to serve with you at the ceremony with @barrycooper. Much love to ya both! <3

One of these days I need to get myself to have a properly safely supervised Ibogaine treatment. I have been trying to break out of solidified habits, and I have my reasons, various health issues and somatic and neurological oddities...

Well, to be perfectly honest, I barely even noticed my health problems when I lived in Amsterdam. Even when I had no money I could always find weed just by walking up and down the right parts of town with my eyes down. The downside is just the way that I tended to not be terribly productive. But I have to admit, especially after acquiring a little bud late last month, that the sense of calm it gave me, I could feel that I was slowly building up Steem, to deliberately misspell and capitalise, and I am sure if I could have access to it whenever I want it, that I would be able to break through a number of blocks that have sat firmly lodged in my system since about 5 years ago.

Anyway, thankyou for sharing this story about a wonderful man who woke up to the lies because he saw them right in front of his face, and eventually could no longer tolerate being part of this wrong system.

inspirational reading - not sure what Ibogaine therapy is, but will go look, sounds fasinating- thanks for the post

Thank you for the informative post! I'm considering attending the ayahuasca and ibogaine retreat in 2017.
