The Day I Became Famous: Helicopters, Hamburgers And MSNBC Tucker Carlson-Former Narc Turned Humanitarian - A Life Series by Barry Cooper

in barrycooperlifeseries •  8 years ago  (edited)

I awoke to the sound of helicopters and small aircraft swooping over and around my home situated in Big Sandy, Texas. The town of fifteen hundred hillbillies was located one hundred miles East of Dallas, Texas. The three-bedroom home was constructed under a canopy of large oak trees. The trees made it difficult for the choppers and spy-planes to get a good look.

I darted outside to confirm the roaring and humming was not a symptom of being high the night before. Through drowsy eyes I identified two police choppers and one news helicopter.

I dashed back inside and noticed I had over four hundred new emails. Most of the emails were titled, “Interview Request” and “Media Inquiry” and originated from FOX, CNN, ABC, NBC, Associated Press and every thing in between.

I only found one news outlet that was in favor of the NeverGetBusted project. During a morning broadcast, Tucker Carlson with MSNBC said, "Barry Cooper is a hero because he is standing up and declaring the War on Drugs is not working!" I telephoned the number provided in the email and scheduled an afternoon interview with Mr. Carlson in Dallas, Texas.

I suspected something might happen that December morning. The day before, I gave my first media interview to the Tyler Morning Telegraph. The reporter, Dick, was interested in a video I was producing titled, “NeverGetBusted: Traffic Stops.”

The film teaches citizens how to avoid being arrested for marijuana. Releasing the DVD made me famous and was the catalyst that made me the humanitarian I am today.

I was producing the film as a form of penance for caging hundreds of non-violent citizens for drug crimes. I planned to advertise the video in as many marijuana magazines I could because that’s where my demographic could be reached.

I believed I could sell enough copies to make a profit if I applied a well-known business principal: If you have a fantastic product and little or poor marketing, you will not see success. If you have a poor product but great marketing, you can still have success.

For example, the McDonald’s hamburger is not the best hamburger in the world. Because of genius marketing, McDonalds sells the most hamburgers. I’m certain a better burger has been created but because of no marketing, you haven’t eaten one. I felt like https://nevergetbusted.com/ was a great hamburger and a fantastic way to feed it to my customers.

I’ll never forget the life-changing interview with Dick. He was known for fetishly tagging along with cops and adopting their dogmatic and brutal philosophies of justice. Cop reporters are usually squirrely individuals who dreamed of being a cop but somehow continued reporting instead of arresting. Blue dogs love them for skewing and slanting media reports in their favor.

Dick began the interview by asking, “Do you realize marijuana is illegal?”

I answered, “Yes and so were Jews and so were black people who sat in the wrong seat. At one time, alcohol and allowing a woman to vote was also illegal. This world has always had bad policy and unfair laws. Arresting humans for possessing a plant fits into this category.”

“So you mean you are going to help marijuana traffickers?” The reporter barked.

“Yes I am Dick. We know from experience arresting bootleggers was immoral and so is arresting a weed dealer. Prohibition is prohibition and it never works.”

Before he could ask another question, I asked Dick how he learned of my project.

Angrily the news writer informed, “A police officer faxed it to me and I’m going to publish your intentions on the front page. My bosses predict it will be picked up by the AP.”

At the time, I was not familiar with the AP (Associated Press) and their ability to trigger stories being published in every newspaper in the world.

I asked, “Are you mad Dick?”

In an attempt to appear unbiased, he answered, “No. I keep emotions out of my articles to remain fair and balanced. You have all the cops pissed at you and I’m not sure what your future is going to bring.”

Since threats usually don’t serve their intended purpose on me, I snapped into a demeanor known as, “The Scary Barry.” This alter ego has been described as intelligent and deeply passionate and is often mistaken as aggressive and angry.

“Fuck you Dick and fuck the cops! I’m mad at them for snatching moms and dads away from their children for a bag of pot. And I’m not sure what your future holds if you slant this story. By the way, did I say ‘fuck you’ yet? Because if I didn’t, then “fuck you.”

After witnessing the Scary Barry, Dick limped away and scratched his head.

Attorney Bobby Mims and I with MMA fighter, Ken Shamrock

I scanned the Internet and discovered the Associated Press was distributing Dick’s story to every newspaper in the world. In the report, The DEA stated I was under investigation and may be indicted for my actions. I quickly called my bodyguard and lawyer who both arrived within an hour.

Texas super lawyer and personal friend, Bobby Mims, began researching to determine if I had committed a crime. I was the first person to ever reveal secret drug enforcement tactics that I had learned during my tenure as one of America’s top drug agents.

Victor Porter and I began developing a plan to evade and avoid the police and the media during the upcoming 100-mile trip to Dallas, Texas. Victor is my best friend who doubled as a bodyguard. Without ever throwing a punch or firing a shot, Mr. Porter protected me through all the shenanigans that came along with being Barry Cooper.

Victor is a Black American crossed with a quarter Cherokee Indian. He stands six feet four inches tall, weighs 230 pounds and looks like the great heavyweight-boxing champion, Evander Holyfield. He had served five-years in prison after being caught with $90,000 in coke-cash.

Victor is part comedian and part professor who is young in years but old in hours. His soft and endearing voice coupled with a classy personality makes him an impressive figure to be around. Victor remains one my most trusted life-long friends.

We were certain the choppers and ground units would follow us to Dallas so I enlisted an ex-police officer to help with the misdirection we needed to shake the surveillance. I just spoke with the ex cop and he asked me to not publish his name. In honor of his wishes, let’s refer to him as “Chapo” as I finish my story.

After dressing in a suit and tie, I purposely wondered around my yard for a few minutes then climbed into Chapo’s truck. I rolled down the dark tinted window so the surveillance teams could see I was leaving with Chapo. I rolled the window back up as Chapo travelled down the oil-topped roads that wormed through the forests and led to the highway.

As planned, Chapo came to a sudden stop after rounding a sharp curve and noticing the choppers lost site of us for a brief moment. I used this opportunity to jump out of the truck and dashed into the thick forest. I snuck back home as Chapo allowed the nerve racking ghosts to follow him to Dallas.

Upon arrival, I quickly jumped into Bobby’s car and beeped the horn. This was the signal for Victor and Bobby to exit my house and drive in the opposite direction of Dallas. We called Chapo who confirmed he was still being tailed by unmarked police cars, one helicopter and a small airplane. Victor reported he didn’t notice any signs of being followed so I rose up as Bobby flipped around and drove me to Dallas.

On the way, I notified my web designers of the situation and told them to go live with NeverGetBusted.com. I wanted to start pre-selling DVD’s and predicted my upcoming interview would be good marketing.

Since I had never been interviewed on television and wasn’t sure if I had violated any laws, I asked my lawyer for advice. Bobby instructed, “Don’t allow them to control what you want to say. If they ask you a question you don’t want to answer, spin it to what you want to say. Be sure and cover the point that you are using your First Amendment Right of Freedom of Speech to protect your Fourth Amendment Right of Unreasonable Search and Arrest.”

We arrived in Dallas and three minutes before the interview, Victor Porter advised my website crashed because NeverGetBusted.com was already receiving hundreds of thousands of hits.

As the clock ticked down for the world to hear me tell my story, I quietly said to myself, “I am going to sell a lot of hamburgers.”

My very first television interview before learning to close my mouth after each response. I also lied about my marijuana use because I was in the middle of a custody battle in family court. Video sourced at Operation Nation

Wow! Awesome!!

These articles are like watching a disaster movie: this is the relatively happy bit at the beginning before the really bad stuff starts happening. When you get to the bit when the police are kicking in your door I’ll have my eyes closed, my fingers in my ears and be singing loudly. I’ll open my eyes when you’re at sea and on your way to a new life.

I've heard many people describe my life but never like this. Thanks @lensessions. It's wonderful.

I like the white suits - very John Travolta-ish :)

nothing better than repenting

That's for sure! My greatest achievements were always preceded by correcting wrong behaviors or philosophies.

Man I wished every post I put up made money like yours do. But alas no one gives any votes to me or my writing. This was a great post by the way!

Blurry eyes. BC .. humanitarian .. yes!

Peace and love to you sir. Thanks for recognizing me as such.

@venuspcs I sincerely want to help you so please take my advice as if it were coming from someone who really cares....because I do. I care enough to point out some hard facts that may not be enjoyable to your ears but I promise I'm coming from a good place. I read the story you linked in my comment section. I couldn't get through it because it was too long. There were not enough pictures and the story was sort of boring. Pictures are important because they break up long spans of texts. Humans are naturally turned off when they see massive amounts of texts. Reading endless text is like listening to someone talk who never pauses. Pictures are the pauses the reader needs to stay interested. Your travels are exciting enough so you have the material needed for an interesting story. If you don't, make something up and change your title to: Based on a true story. I'm positive you need to publish shorter stories. For example, the story I just wrote and published here was twice as long before editing. I am saving the other half for another story that I may or may not post later. Most people don't have an hour to read something and if they do, they usually prefer jumping around and reading many different articles during the hour. When they see your story will take them half a day to read, they will click off your blog and probably not return. I have been writing seriously for over 30 years and making a living at it for over 10 years. More importantly, I have been reading since I can remember. My experience has taught me to proof read my stories as if I were another person. I ask myself these questions with every single paragraph I write: Is this interesting? Is it necessary to tell the story? Is it repetitive? Is it simple and easy to read? Practice these tips and your vote numbers are very likely to increase. I hope this helps and good luck!

I am a little confused. Your story is roughly 4 pages long, contains 5 pictures and 1 video (two pictures are together). My first linked post is 4 pages and has 7 pictures. My second linked post is 5 pages and also has 7 linked pictures. Furthermore, I have no run-on paragraphs (ahem - like your comment). But I do agree the second one was too long without enough breaks. Still it is only about a 20 minutes read for an average reader. Less for many Steemians.

I will however work at putting in more pictures and attempting to break up the story into shorter pieces.

PS - This is a work of Fiction and once completed there will be very few pictures unless I can find someone to illustrate the book before I publish it.

we come here to try anything and i believe we dont have to learn, but we do have to experience, experience changes you, either while youre alive and conscious, or after... I love the ones who wake uo while they´re here and really live

just wow - half expected Arnie to come through the door!

Excellent, Barry! Great stuff! Sharing on Facebook! :-)

Thanks old friend. You were one of the first to report on my life. Ill never forget it.

Awesome, what a great read!! Thank you for sharing!!!

Wait, is Tucker Carlson actually a decent human being? I never even considered he might be. Is that why he got ran off the MSM?

Not really sure of his character @dollarvigilante but he was the only correspondent at the time who admitted the Drug War was immoral. Thanks for the upvote and for stopping by.

Hi @barrycooper, just stopped back to let you know you were among my favourite reads today. You can read what I had to say here.
