The Houston bats came alive in retribution Saturday night with a 8 to 1 victory over the Washington Nationals. Home field advantage continues to not be a benefit for both teams who have fallen twice on their own turf.
The Astros starter Urquidy pitched five innings of two hit ball with four strike outs and zero walks. The Houston bullpen continued the stellar performance giving up only one run in the sixth inning. The bullpen combined for another four strike outs and five walks.
Meanwhile, Houston started the scoring early with two runs in the first inning via small ball. The home runs started coming in the fourth inning and they went on to double their score in the seventh inning.
The starting pitcher for the Nationals Corbin had five strike outs over the six innings he pitched, but it wasn't enough to make up for the seven hits and four runs he gave away.
With the series tied, these two teams face off again tonight in Washington. Will the 2-3-2 format be friend or foe to the Astros? Cole and Scherzer go head to head again and I have a feeling Cole is going to be looking for some redemption.
