World Series Recap Game 5, It's getting good!

If you bought home tickets to the world series hoping to see your team win a game, you have probably been seriously disappointed. With last nights 7 to 1 victory in Washington, neither of the teams have won a game at home yet this series. This has only happened two other times in the history of the sport.

The win last night gives the Astros a 3 to 2 series lead with the final two games being played in Houston. Maybe it was by design. The way Houston has been dominating the past two games it makes you wonder if they purposely lost the first two so they could clinch the title at home.

I doubt that is the case, but it will still be pretty cool if they can button things up on Tuesday night.

Sunday nights game seemed more like a regular season game for the Astros. Typically you will see a pitcher go pretty deep into the game before they start going to the bullpen. Unless he is getting lit up or showing signs of injury. In the previous games that hasn't been the case. Pitchers were only making it to the fifth inning or so before being pulled.

Cole was definitely out to save some face from his previous loss at home, going seven innings with 9 strikeouts and only giving up one run. The Astros only gave away four hits the whole game and three of them can be attributed to Cole. That is pretty good throwing. Additionally, they only allowed 2 walks the whole game and those were both off of Cole as well.

The Nationals pitching stuck to the formula we have been seeing of only having the starter go into the fifth inning before digging into the bullpen. That could be because four of the seven runs were given up by Ross. Hudson was the definite loser from the bullpen giving up the other three runs in an inning and a half.

I have been focusing more on the pitching in these games than the batting mostly because there are such big names taking the plate. Despite the games being less close than I would have expected, we are still seeing some great pitching.

Game six will be on Tuesday night and it will likely give us the matchup of Verlander vs. Strasburg again. As I have said, I am a Tigers fan and a fan of Justin Verlander. I am going to be pulling for him to get some redemption from his previous loss. Hopefully he can draw from the energy of Cole and turn things around for the next game.

Which would you rather see? Verlander clinching the series or the Nationals extending the record of away team wins in the World Series?
