Yankees vs. Dodgers.

We are going to have a Yankees-Dodgers WS - the first since 1981. The duty of Red Sox Nation - and of good people everywhere - is clear: we must support the Dodgers all the way! Down with the self-proclaimed Evil Empire of Baseball. See link in comments on how the Yankees have admitted in court that they are indeed the one and only evil empire of the sport.

It's worth remembering that 3 Dodgers are heroes of past Red Sox playoff triumphs over the Empire. Manager Dave Roberts, of course, got a legendary stolen base in the 2004 Reversal of the Curse. Mookie Betts (2018 ALDS) and Kike Hernandez (2021 wild card game) were vital contributors to two other wins over the Yankees. Root for them to humiliate the Yankees again.

Here are some more reasons to back the Dodgers:

  1. The Yankees are owned by the Steinbrenner crime family. The Steinbrenners combine many of the worst features of the Lannisters, the Targaryens, and the Harkonnens.

  2. Yankees ace Gerrit Cole is likely guilty of repeated cheating by covering the ball with banned substances. Multiple players from other teams have testified to his misconduct. The evidence against him is so strong he's too ashamed to even publicly deny it and proclaim his innocence!

  3. The Yankees continue to benefit from $1 billion in government subsidies for the new Yankee Stadium - the biggest public subsidy for a sports facility in US history up to that time. Economists across the political spectrum agree such subsidies are awful. Whether you are a conservative, a progressive, a libertarian, or just an apolitical, but fair-minded person, you cannot possibly support such gargantuan corporate welfare for billionaire owners and millionaire players.

  4. The Dodgers led the integration of baseball, and are today leading the integration of Japanese players.

  5. Hard not to love Shohei Ohtani, who may be the greatest baseball talent in decades.

  6. The Yankees, for many years, employed Alex Rodriguez, the biggest steroids cheater in MLB history, as a highly paid "consultant," after he got the biggest steroids suspension in history (while playing for the Yankees). What was he consulting on? Probably how to get steroids. No one thinks he's a great tactical genius.

There are many more reasons. But the above is enough. Time to bleed Dodgers Blue! At least until the WS is over.
