Some may say that winter is the best time to visit San Diego as in the month of December San Diego experience a clear and pleasant weather, with the sun generally shining through a layer of fresh air. This is a time when people are driving to the beach with their shorts on. However, my fiancé and I came to San Diego for a week during the spring in May. The city is absolutely gorgeous with so many “must see” attractions it made it difficult to narrow things down. We were glad that we booked our stay for the week as we were able to see so much in just a short amount of time.

San Diego has the best of both the worlds. You can experience ice skating beneath the stars at the Hotel Del Coronado which is simply unforgettable. We stayed at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Misson Bay Spa and Marina which was close to all of the spots we wanted to see.

So, whenever your travels bring you to San Diego for a vacation then consider this list to make it more memorable.

San Diego Zoo– Your trip to San Diego is incomplete without a visit to the famous San Diego Zoo. This zoo offers special attraction during the holidays, particularly if festive times are ahead. The yearly “Jungle Bells” event gives holiday-themed animal shows, excursion-themed leisure, excursion treats and tree lightings at night. Other attractions include a tractor-pulled trolley which drives visitors throughout the Zoo in evening. To make things more special, even Santa makes a special appearance.

Lush grounds, from gardens to forests, fountains to playgrounds, and sweeping architecture from Spanish Colonial Revival to mid-century Modern span the heart of the Park. More than 17 museums filled with everything from dinosaurs to space travel, science to the study of humankind, photographs to old masters, and automobiles to orchids. Plays, musicals, orchestras, ballet, heritage dancing, song, and the World Famous San Diego Zoo, round out a vast array of things to see and do.

The Old Point Loma Lighthouse and the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery-The lighthouse is located on a hill close to the Rosecrans Cemetery which is made in the honor of the dead freedom fighters and brave soldiers. The whole area presents a beautiful view of the harbor line and from the lighthouse, one can see the entire city. Here, one can feel the entire city and seeing the cemetery a feeling of gratitude soaks you.

Petco Park is spectacular in every way, combining the best sight lines in baseball with breathtaking views of San Diego. Innovative design features evoke the timeless traditions of baseball in an intimate setting, with state-of-the-art fan amenities to suit every taste and budget.

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park – The Park’s topography includes intricately carved coastal bluffs, arches, and sea caves. It affords inspiring panoramic ocean views. From the cliffs, California gray whales often can be seen migrating annually from the Bering Sea to Baja California and back. Legend says that the couple who watches a sunset together at Sunset Cliffs will share a lifetime of happiness together. Funny that the very next day that my boyfriend Justin proposed to me in Balboa Park in the Alcazar Gardens.
