This week in Sf Giants #1

Hi I'm Tyler Peterson, for those of you who don't know me and I'm a die hard San Francisco Giants fan. So i decided every Sunday evening I'm going to blog a review of the Giants week. So now that that is done let's get on to this week in Giants baseball. It was a short week due to the all star break. That doesn't mean there is not a lot to talk about this week. Let's start with Friday night, you're coming into the second half of the season with the best record in baseball, you're playing the Padres who you're 9-0 against this year, you have your ace on the mound and what happens you lose 4-1. Bumgarner didn't pitch well and no offense to other than a Brandon Crawford double in top of the 2nd inning and was singled home by Connor Gillaspie. That was all the scoring they did that night. Not much to talk about in this one, except that Brandon Belt was ejected in the ninth inning after arguing a called third strike. Then Bruce Botchy was ejected as well. But for Belt this was the first ejection of his career. Now Saturday this is where it starts to go real weird. Samardzija started,he went five innings five runs four earned, with four walks. Trailing three nothing in the top of the third when Pagan hit A two run home run to make it three to two. Then Samardzija gave up two more runs to make it five to two. Span would later score in the fifth inning and solo home runs from Williamson and Pena in the sixth inning to tie the game. The score stay the same thanks to bullpen help from Suarez, Osich, Strickland, and Romo. Then in the tenth inning Buster Posey hit a solo homer to put the Giants up by one run heading into the bottom of the tenth. Santiago Casilla was coming in for the save. Every thing is good right, you get the come from behind win with your all star hitting the home run to give you the lead, what a huge win. But that's not what happened, instead Casilla gave up three singles in a row and allowed the Padres to tie the game and now you have runners on first and third, Casilla catches a cleat on the mound and balks in the winning run. So what went from a great come from behind win to get the second half going to a heartbreaking loss. And Sunday was more of the same from Friday night. Cueto didn't pitch well only going five innings giving up four runs on five hits and three walks. The Giants were getting no hit until Gillaspie hit a pinch hit three runs homer. And that was all the offense for the day. The Padres would add one more run later to bring the final score five to three Padres. So let's review, you come out flat Friday night with your ace on the mound and lose. Saturday make a great come back to only blow a lead in extra innings. Then come out Sunday afternoon flat with your other ace the mound, the one that was the starter for the national league all star team. And lose. There are lots of questions to be had, Should we be worried this is a sign of things to come? Do the Giants Need to address the end of the bullpen issue? Was this just a fluke at the start of the second half? And now they right the ship. We will only know in due time. Like Marty Lurie likes to say " this weekend is just a piece of the mosaic that is baseball" there is a lot of season left, but definitely some things to address moving forward. #sfgiants # mlb #togetherwearestrong # inbocheywetrust #giants
