Steem Basic Income

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

One of our objectives when we started this experiment was to bring resources to our membership that will help them to become more informed about the ideas surrounding Universal Basic Income. We have been quite busy with membership tracking, vote pattern analysis, and fine-tuning the program. As a result, we have been very limited in the resources we have shared.

We found this to be a very interesting read, showing a history of thinkers and ideologues that have talked about Basic Income (or substantially similar ideas), from Tom Paine to Henry James, from Timothy Leary to Scott Santens, actually one of our members.

New feature - delegation bonus shares

We released this feature a couple of days ago, but we want to repeat the announcement for anybody that missed it. Existing members can receive bonus shares by delegation. For every 25 SP delegated to @steembasicincome, members will receive 1 bonus share. Now member A can get similar bonus shares to member B by delegation instead of upvoting, to the benefit of everyone involved! Currently each share receives a weekly voting weight of 8.70%

Any Steemian that is already enrolled in @steembasicincome can delegate as much as they would like, to receive bonus shares. We did some calculations on this offer when we were asked about it, and the approximate APR for this delegation is 27%. That's a 27% annual return to boost everybody's basic income. I don't think it gets much better than that!
