Ninelives of Basic Attention Token

Last week @cwise009 suggested I should look into BAT, after some careful consideration and research, I deemed it worthy for the subject of this post in the Ninelives series. This series is called Ninelives because I'm a cat and cats are said to have 9 lives due to their amazing ability to survive. The following post gives nine reasons why BAT is great and why it may not just survive but thrive. The people behind https://basicattentiontoken.org/ are definitely working on something great that could be disruptive to entire industries and there is already a working product. So let's get on with the Ninelives of BAT.

1. Brave: A blockchain based digital environment offering a privacy focused browser, a native cryptocurrency, the customization of advertising and content. It's aim is to be open-sourced, transparent, efficient and decentralized. Digital media is full of middlemen, fraud and spam-Brave intends to change this.

2. BAT Ads Program: It blocks irrelevant ads and you are paid up to 70% of the ad revenue to view the ads you choose to see. Advertisers pay the publishers in BAT; the content creator and the end viewer all get paid in BAT. It is an accurate, incentive based system.

3. Brave manages user attention: There is an attention score which tracks how long you are on a page, the type of content you are viewing, etc. You are paid in BAT based on this score, the system uses machine learning to constantly improve. It is a better system that what we currently see on other browsers using cookies. Hopefully when I use Brave, there will no longer be adds targeted to dogs and dog owners-Brave should know I am a cat and we have servants 😸

4. Brave Web Browser: It's faster than Chrome, Firefox, Safari and IE because there aren't countless embedded ads. There has already been over 2 million downloads and there are millions of people using it; it's a working product. Brave is available and works on all platforms (Android, IOS, Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.) Because it shows less adds, if you are paying for data, you will save money browsing on BAT(up to 50% less data used) and get paid!

5. Brave Payments: $BAT is the native cryptocurrency in the Brave ecosystem. YouTube already allows people to be tipped in BAT. Reddit, Twitch, Twitter and other platforms will also allow contributors to be paid, or tipped in BAT as well.

6. BAT wallet: The wallet built into the Brave browser is for storing, sending and receiving BAT. Users will be able to purchase BAT directly from their debit or credit cards on the browser. This makes it very simple to buy BAT so you can easily pay people for their content. 7. Brendan Eich: Founder and CEO of Brave Software. Brendan co-founded Mozilla Firefox, he also created JavaScript while working for Netscape. Brendan's history of developing disruptive technologies is surpassed by few. The co-founder of BAT, Brian Bondy worked at Firefox with Brendan and was behind Khan Academy.

8. Strong Advisers and Investors: Asides from a celebrity team, BAT has the backing of Peter Thiel (a famous Silicon valley startup investor.) Ankur Nandwani formerly attached to Coinbase is an adviser. The current CEO of Coinbase made a positive Tweet about BAT on March 30th

9. Lightening fast ICO: BAT's ICO last June of 2017 sold 35 million dollars worth of BAT in half a minute. There are 1 billion BAT tokens with 30% reserved for future user growth and 20% reserved for future development. BAT aims to take down giants such as Google and Facebook by promoting their more fair an efficient ecosystem.

In the past, I came across people saying great things about BAT but never really looked into it because there are so many other blockchain projects to explore. I am really glad Bat was brought to my attention, after making this post I am considering investing in the project or at the very least testing out the Brave browser.
