BAT Can Now Be Used With YouTube!

Basic Attention Token Can Now Be Used On YouTube!

Why you would want to use YouTube instead of DTube I wouldn't know. (Wink Wink)

But, if you do want to use YT, you can now use your BAT on there too.

The news has caused a brief spike in the price, but nothing too drastic and the price remains below 20 cents US.

The key new feature mentioned in the article from Coin Desk is this:

"Previously, YouTube creators could not be listed as individual publishers in Brave Payments. This change allows BAT contributions to flow directly into their wallets. The Brave browser determines the YouTube creator name from a YouTube video, no matter what site embeds it."

So you can now send your favorite YouTubers some BAT from your Brave wallet.

Testing Brave Wallet

Speaking of which, I do use Brave sometimes and while on there yesterday I decided to give the wallet a try. It looks like this:

I like the idea of a browser integrated wallet (which is why I like MetaMask) and having it built into the browser is a pretty nice touch. But I can't currently see myself making use of BAT yet.

Steem and Busy are much more fun!

Interesting road ahead for BAT I think, but what about you? Are you a BAT fan? Do you think the current price is still super duper cheap? Could Smart Media Tokens make BAT redundant?

Let me know down below!

Thanks for viewing!

I wonder if that BAT thing is going to be implemented to Firefox or Chrome?

Highly unlikely, google would want their own crypto and firefox is no where near as good as chrome anymore.
Brave already is well ahead of the competition in all departments on this, it will over expanded all over with BAT.

Looks easy to add BAT system as an addon, no need to Google to want it or not. Same for Firefox, doesn't matter if Firefox is "bad" or not. This is not about Google or Mozilla.

You could be right there @nehomar! I'm no dev so wouldn't know if it was possible to do it or not. :-)

Maybe it'll happen once they've got it all working in Brave? Something to keep an eye on for sure.

I think you right about that, it's not something difficult to do.
Google probably doesn't have any issues with this tipping content creators, I think they probably do with the BAT idea as a whole.

  • No user data collected
  • Loss of ad revenue
That's a serious amount of money google could lose

I was wondering if it might have to in order to gain more users, but as @davydd.evans says; Brave is expanding.

I remember hearing about it about a year ago, and there seemed to be very few people using it back then, but it seems like more and more people are talking about it now.

They can implement this to all browsers supporting addons/plugins. If this is open source everyone can.

I'm using the Brave browser most of the time, though it bugs every now and then. I also have some BAT but I haven't used it on anything. But just the Brave browser makes BAT cool; no more Google tracking your every movement and pushing ads to your face (there's of course adblocker but that might not cancel tracking).

hey g -dubs
thank's for resteem

also thank to futuristgear

No problem @shagorshikder!

Thank you @g-dubs for resteeming too!

Oh nice. BAT is doing some innovative things. We'll see where this one goes but it's good to see more "tokenizing of the web" so to speak.

Yeah the project seems to be going very well.

The other 2 web related ones I'm looking into are Substratum (SUB) and Nimiq (NET). They both look very interesting projects too. Different goals though of course.

Never seen bat before looks like surfingforbitcoin used to back in the day

Thats certainly one part that will be implemented soon, it's aiming to do far more.

It's a very interesting project.

Nice article bro

Good thought that whether BAT or SMT get adapted more at the end. I believe both can coexist for different customers

That's true! I guess that will be what will happen. :-)

Quick question? How to request a youtube publisher to get bat verified? Any easy ways to do that?

I have no idea I'm afraid @sijo0703.

The only way I could find so far is to request the youtube publisher to visit the site brave.com/creators and get verified.

I guess you could leave the Youtuber a comment, and/or send them a message with that link. Apart from that I'm not sure what else you can do.

There will probably be some who aren't interested in getting verified for whatever reason too.
