How to renovate the bathroom without doing any work

Refitting the bathroom leads to discomfort at home and a considerable expense; however, structural interventions are often not necessary to give it a new life. You can play with accessories, color and light: let's see how.

If your bathroom is a bit outdated or you want to renew its look quickly and without spending a fortune, avoid demolition and opt for décor solutions and light interventions. You'll keep costs down and don't have to deal with the hardships that a renovation necessarily entails, especially if you only have one service at home. With a little bit of ingenuity, the result will still be effective!

Refurbish bathroom accessories

Shower hanger, broom, soap holder, brush and roll have a scruffy look? Replace the mixers. Just as well as the water cover if it is now too yellowed and you can't bleach it anymore.
When floors and walls don't have any character, use the accessories to give personality and warmth to your bathroom. Even only new mats, towels and curtains can make a difference with a modest economic investment. An extra idea? It uses handcrafted containers made of fabric or wicker to store creams, brushes and other clutter.

Play with color and light

When changing accessories, carefully evaluate the choice of colour. If the upholstery is neutral, you can indulge in your taste and pleasure; if it's already a spot of colour, then choose neutral-tone objects for a sober result, or a colour contrast if you want a lively bathroom. You can then use the light to highlight the best corners and critical points will notice less; an important lamp will give style to the room, as well as, more simply, a candle lantern.

Who said the bathroom does not decorate?

A mirror with an inlaid frame, decorative plaques or squares on the walls, the vintage stool recovered at the market and the scarf towels hanging on the towel rack will be able to divert attention from what goes wrong. And why not create your own little but luxuriant jungle in the bathroom? It is the ideal place for plants that need moisture: orchids, ficus and ferns, for example.

Replace the encrusted faucet

The old taps and fittings encrusted with limestone make your bath faucet slim. Do professional cleaning products no longer work? Consider that the renewal of the taps or the mixer unit of washbasin, bidet and shower costs approximately 100 euros or more (also very much up, obviously depends on the models) plus the workforce: it could be worthwhile. Even if you don't buy the latest design products, you'll get new and shiny taps.

Dated and ugly tiles? Reproperate!

Of course, if you have pink tiles or champagne right up to the ceiling - live since the 1970s! Tips for renovating the bathroom seen so far may not be enough.... But it is not necessary to dismantle everything: the resins, for example, cover any type of surface, so they can be applied to the tiles intact. They are also suitable for covering the bathtub or washbasin. Do-it-yourself is not recommended and in this case the expenses are very high, but without demolition, you will have a completely different environment than before.
