The Book of Proverbs with its wisdom teaches that men can make their calculations in the face of problems and the paths they choose, but the final decision is in God. This is why the Book of Proverbs leaves this important teaching to remember and not to forget: "The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord" Proverbs 21:31.
And this teaching has a flip side: those who rely exclusively on their power and wealth are destined to fail sooner or later, the apparent goods are deceptive and often create a feeling of false confidence, the wisdom from above calls men to avoid this error, the sins of pride and arrogance destroy men. And this truth is best understood by something that is typical of fools: "In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God" Psalm 10:4.
And an example of the validity of this proverb taught in the Bible was the battle between the young shepherd David and the most powerful warrior of the Philistines, Goliath. David had little chance of winning the battle, Goliath was an experienced and well-armed warrior, however, David was filled with the spirit of God, and without doubts and without fear of men he was precise and exact in his actions, and God favored him with victory. David, because of his fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, and equanimity), was always favored by God, and this great king is one of the best examples in the Bible of how a person should act in life if he wants to achieve success in all his projects.
God in his infinite and eternal providence guides the events of things by calling some and condemning others, that is why it is essential to put faith in God, like the patriarch Abraham who demonstrated an unshakeable faith even in the face of the worst events according to the Book of Genesis. The Lord wants to bless his children, but it is up to them to let themselves be blessed, because hardness of heart is contrary to common sense and to what God commands. Finally, it must be remembered that all these teachings are based on a spiritual principle: "For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction" Psalm 1:6.
