This game and the franchise behind it have been fantastic from the start. Everyone loved the original God of War and the others that followed. When God of War III hit in 2010 almost everyone rushed to buy it. There were lots of people that didn't because of the console wars at the time or perhaps they didn't have $50 spare at the time. These days, for just a few bucks you can walk the line with Kratos for yet again another fantastic adventure.

The last time i checked this game was available on the Playstation store for $5 and while i understand the original PS3 version is over 10 years old it is worth every bit of that money. The graphics were upgraded for the PS4 and the game is exactly the same (with minor differences.) This results in a relatively easy yet astoundingly great game experience in what I consider to be one of the best story-driven franchises of all time

For years I thought that Kratos was actually a made up part of Greek mythology, but as it turns out he is actually really part of it but just not one that we would normally hear about when we are forced to learn about this shit in high school.
I think that when most people play this GOW game or any of the other ones, they are far more familiar with he other characters that he interacts with such as Athena, Zeus, Hercules, or even Medusa - who is a regular visitor the game for obvious gaming reasons.

God of War 3 carries on with a bit more liberty as far as actual Greek mythology is concerned but honestly, it doesn't really matter.... it is simply awesome.
They will (in this game) introduce a lot of weapons and add-ons that give the game a certain feel that is different from the rest in that the new upgrades seem important and that is where one of the few problems of this game kind of kick in..... you don't really need them.
Aside from one particular weapon that you get from killing Hercules that enables you to break certain ice-looking thing (intentionally being vague) I don't really see the point of any of the weapons at all. There just isn't any reason to deviate from your normal weaponry unless you are faced with people that have shields.
The claws of Hades for example, give you the ability to summon creatures to fight at your side and there are a lot of "soul" options available but all they ever do it appear for 3 seconds and then run off into the distance normally not hitting anything.
There is no reason to use this weapon set throughout the entire game.
For me, I found myself reverting back to the original Blades of Chaos that you have already become very familiar with if you have played any of the preceding games.
I feel as though the big amounts of offensive damage options are stupid and useless. What I do not find useless or stupid is the overall game because this game is absolutely fantastic. They have taken the majesty that was the past 2 games and done very well with it. I still feel as though God of War 2 is a game that will forever remain in the annuls of history as one of the best games ever made but this game is a worthy follow-up, while still not being and improvement.
The thing about it not being an improvement is that it didn't need to be: These games follow along in a story that can't possibly have an ending (and i don't think the developers would want that.)
The music, the story, the controls.... everything is super polished and excellent on a level that other game studios could only dream of.
If I were you and I was sitting somewhere in the PS store wondering where I could spend $5 I would say there is no chance that you are going to spend it better than on this game. It is a fantastic ride from start to finish.
Just do one thing though and do NOT put it on the easiest setting. I did when i first downloaded it and managed to make it the entire way through the game and was only killed once..... by the final boss in the final battle...by some bullcrap that you couldn't possibly see coming on the first playthrough.

lol about not playing this game on Easy.... i did exactly that and as I started to get near to all of the powerups I was thinking "normally when you have all powerups it means the game is nearly over"

I would be willing to bet that a lot of people did exactly that.

and the downside of being fully powered up before the end of the game is that half of the chests that you encounter, you don't even need them. There is no reason to collect orbs anymore.
