Battlefield: Bad Company 3 is confirmed to be set in both the Vietnam and post-Vietnam Cold War era, following
leaker 'AlmightyDaq's' video detailing information on the new title.
This puts our period limit to bellow the year 1991. The weapons listed here are eligible for inclusion in the
new game many of which are guaranteed to appear (such as the M16, AKM and the M60.)
Before we get into the probable weapons to be featured in the game, I'd like to notify you
with a fact or two about the game that I have confirmed. We know the game will partially take place in Vietnam during
the Vietnam war, and conflicts after. However, weapons from after the conflict may also be usable regardless
of historical inaccuracies. Also, specific weapons are locked to specific factions, so
expect to work your way up if you want to use the M16 and M60 on the Vietnamese side.
I've naturally divided weapon types to Automatic Rifles which include assault rifles, battle rifles
and and carbines, DMRs or semi-automatic-rifles, sidearms and pistols, submachine guns, shotguns, bolt-action rifles
light machine guns and other weapons such as anti-materiel rifles and grenade launchers.
Let's get into it.
Assault/Battle Rifles:
M16 / M16A1 - Difference is magazine - 30 rounds and bolt-assist - 1964 and onward - This weapon is
guaranteed to be included by setting nature alone as the main service rifle of the US military.
FN FAL - 1954 - Virtually all nations other than the US widely used this rifle. It is extremely likely to appear.
AK-47/AKM/TYPE 56 - 1947 and onward - The AK series of rifles is widely used today, as it was in the Cold War.
Their inclusion is definite, but we can't be sure which of the variants will be put in.
AK-74 and/or AK-74U as a carbine - 1974 - A weapon of widespread use as well. Likely to be included.
G3 - 1959 - The G3 rifle is a beloved weapon of most BF3 players, and it's inclusion is very likely.
Sturmgewehr 44 - 1943 - The STG44 saw use up until the 1960's by East Germany. Just might be in.
Now, if the STG44 doesn't make an appearence, perhaps the CEAM Modele 1950 will.
The CEAM Modele 1950 is the fruit of the effort of France pushing for the realization of the late-WW2
concepts and early models of what was to be the STG45 assault rifle to put on mass production.
Due to costs, it was scrapped and was later to become the G3 rifle, so it's actually a prototype in the
same sense as the Hellriegel in Battlefield 1.
FAMAS-F1 - 1978 - The FAMAS is yet another massively popular rifle designed in France famous for it's incredible
rate of fire. Very likely to be included.
SIG SG 550 - 1990 - This Swiss weapon was developed in the 1970's and produced from 1986. Very likely to come.
HK33 - 94 - 1968 and onward - The successors to the G3, seeing use in the Vietnam war amongst others. Inclusion possible.
SA80 - 1985 - SA80 is the standard issue assault rifle of the British Armed Forces to this day.
It's very likely to be included in the game.
AUG-A1 - 1978 - You know what this thing is. The AUG is very likely to be included in the game. It's just has to.
IMI Galil - 1972 - The Israeli Galil is a rifle that is commonly used today. I haven't said that before.
Highly likely to be included.
Colt AR-15 - 1963 - The Colt AR-15 in it's automatic designation could see inclusion along witht the M16 as a carbine.
AEK-971 - Designed 1978 - Battlefield 3 and 4 favorite due to fast fire rate, going to be put in the game
as it has appeared in the previous Bad Company games.
STONER 63 - 1963 - The Stoner 63 rifle saw extremely limited service in the Vietnam war, and production was
quickly disscontinued making it one of the rarest weapons to date. The weapon is regarded as a rifle of great
quality made with the mindset opposite to that of the M16 and the AK whose presence and popularity
come from their simplicity, the Stoner 63 rifle system can be turned into a machine gun, designated marksman
rifle, or carbine and can take a multitude of calibers, and can be modified to the full extent.
This rifle is likely to come to the game.

M1 Garand - 1936 - The M1 Garand saw heavy use in the Second World War and, to a smaller scale, in the Vietnam
War. Likely to be included due to prominence, but may be put away to used in the WW2 game.
L1A1 SLR - 1954 - The semi-auto version of the FN FAL, a derivative for the British Commonwealth. Such
as the original weapon, it sees heavy use to this day. Due to the auto version definetely comming, this may
not be in the game.
