The annual service of Alpha Phi Omega Emarat 121 Alumni Association to all OFW distress kabayan was recently held last January 26, 2018 at Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The goal of this activity was to give happiness and entertainment to those OFW workers who did not found their luck in their job which led them to run or escape their employers for some reasons. As of now, almost 157 OFW's are staying in the embassy and with the help of different organizations through conducting services, somehow we are giving them a reasons to smile and appreciate life after all the struggles and difficulties they'r encountering.
The following photos you will see are the actual event together with the event host and the distress kabayans. We have to blur some photos to ensure the privacy of the kabayans and to avoid public humiliation.

SHARE YOUR BLESSINGS

To give a bundle of joy to our fellow kabayans we prepare something that they will surely enjoy such as toiletries, food packs, raffle prizes like luggage bags, tumbler, tablets, perfumes and 32 inches TV. Others had their individual donations such as tables, chocolates and cash as well.

Before the program started, we had the opening prayer led by one of the distress kabayan, then it was followed with the Philippine National Anthem led by Sis. Shirley. Later on Bro. Tito Padilla, president of APO Emarat 121 Alumni Association introduce APO and gave some history as a welcome remarks and quick facts why we do this yearly.

We did not prolong the speech so we started giving away the toiletries and soon raffle prizes began.

FREE CALLS FOR KABAYAN'S

Aside from the items we provide to them, we also gave them a free calls in the Philippines using our personal mobiles who has some extra minutes available. Since majority of us are using a post paid plan, we come up with this idea so they can have a chance to talk their family back home. All of them are not allowed to use their personal mobile phones to avoid any contact between them and their employers or to avoid them from getting out/escaping the embassy territory. This is for their own protection since they do not have a proper documentation which might led them in jail if they got caught from outside.

Watching them while over the phone crying, I cannot help myself to feel sympathy, how hard it is being away from your family and at the same time struggling without any idea until when this will be over. I really admire them because they are all brave women. Even though they know what will be the future holds still they have the courage to gamble. They want the best for their family, I hope they'll get the best too.
