I have cooked a chicken like this but I used a can of sprite it works great, must try it with beer.

    Great! the only thing you should be careful with is the fact that the metal and the paint of the can is not good for your health. Beter use a special tool (like the one from Weber). By the way white wine is also a good suggestion.
