The lure of the internet and consequently, social media is irresistible. There are 4.39 billion internet users as per 2019, and approximately 15 million of those users are following Sadcasm, Sadcasm is the brainchild of Meet Luthra and Rakesh Prasad, both of who were pursuing their B.Com and MBA degrees when they decided to leave their studies and ride the wave of popularity that social media is currently commanding all over the internet.

ORIGIN

Sadcasm is about 6 months old, and originated out of the amalgamation of the words- “sad” and “sarcasm”, aiming to provide its users the best of both these worlds. Luthra and Prasad spent a considerable amount of time experimenting with social media platforms until they came up with their own.

SUCCESS STORY

They have a full-time editorial team that comes up with original content around the clock, and they also boast a site of their own (www.sadcasm.co). The page has already caught the attention of marketing and advertising firms all over the country, and its followers come from 40 different countries.

AIM

When asked about their creation, both Luthra and Prasad have stated that they wish to reach 20 million followers on Facebook by 2020. They are constantly pushing their boundaries as a source of entertainment, while focusing on the youth as their main audience. Approximately 90% of their audience belongs to the age group of 18-25 years. Both founders believe their popularity is due to the fact that they make an effort to be relatable to their audience, and try to come up with their own trends rather than hanging onto old ones and posting simply for the sake of likes and followers.

WHAT’S IN THE NAME?

Despite the page’s name (Sad but Sarcastic) the posts are intended to bring a smile on to your face. They also report news on trends and news. But the most important part is that they steer away from controversial topics, and aim to be as lighthearted as possible, amassing a greater gathering of followers day by day due to their unique and funny content.
