Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 'Bharat Bharati' at Visva-Bharati University, established by Rabindranath Tagore of the World Bank in Shanti Niketan, West Bengal.
On Friday morning, while the two leaders were unveiling the plaque of this building built in Bangladesh, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, besides members of Bangladesh cabinet, academics and cultural representatives were present.
After the 49th convocation of Visva-Bharati, this ceremony was inaugurated in Bangladesh building. Sheikh Hasina joined the convocation as a guest of honor. Modi as a teacher of the University and Mamta was also present on the occasion of the convocation.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced the construction of a Bangladesh building in Santiniketan around the celebration of birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, the author of national anthem of Bangladesh and India. The building was inaugurated by Modi.
After the formalities of inauguration of Bangladesh building, there is a meeting between the two Prime Ministers of Bangladesh and India.
This building, which is funded by the government of Bangladesh, has a 450-seat auditorium, which is the largest of the Universities in India.
Alongside the cultural history of Bangladesh, a library has also been erected in the building along with Bangladesh-India relations and the collection of books on various subjects of Bangladesh.
Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and poet Rabindranath Tagore murals have been established at two ends of the entrance of the building.
Sheikh Hasina will visit Jorasanko Thakur Bari in Kolkata on the birthplace of Rabindranath Tagore in the afternoon. Join the special convocation of Kazi Nazrul University in Asansol on Saturday. There he will be given honorific dalit degree.
After returning from Asansol to Calcutta, on Saturday afternoon, visiting the Netaji Museum and the Prime Minister is going to return to Dhaka.
