Summer Paradise #3.1 | Bali, Indonesia

in beach •  7 years ago

Exactly 6 years ago, I was on my way to one of my favorite countries, Indonesia. It was actually my first time to Indonesia and I immediately fell in love with it. There's almost nothing to hate about besides the humidity during their "summer", it feels like you're trapped in a sauna and there's no escape to it till night time.

Thank God for budget airline Airasia, we flew from LCCT (currently known as KLIA 2) to Denpasar, Bali for less than RM350 if I remember correctly. The downside is, we arrived in the evening. But we had the complimentary hotel pick-up service from Tony's Villa, Seminyak, our home for the next 3 days. The hotel driver was warm and friendly, gave us a lot of guidance on how to plan our trip. He dropped us at the hotel lobby, carried our bags and assisted us on our check-in too.

I don't think I have mentioned, there were 4 of us and the villa is for two, but it was insanely big for two. After negotiating (because it is going to be a 3-night stay), we agreed to pay for an additional bed and in return we earned two extra breakfast meals. YAY! Best part, there were so many varieties to choose from: Oriental, Local (Indonesian), Western or Cereal/Bread. But of course, we are Malaysian Chinese, my friends usually opt for Western meal, while i went for the cereal and bread because they are simply the best!

Beautiful villa with magnificent greeneries, fantastic hospitality, great facilities and wonderful breakfast. All for about RM450 per person for three nights. Yes, it was a pretty expensive stay for Bali because there were so many other options but NO, we didn't regret a bit because it's a bloody awesome villa.

The banana pancake is AWESOME(high-pitched)!

The communal pool is even better than the private pool

Anyway, after settling down at the villa, we went to 7-Eleven to pick up some cup noodles and water for the night and my mind was blown away. It was nothing like Malaysia's 7-Eleven! Are you kidding? A section of "mini Borders Bookstore" in a 7-E? Put that aside, we were still not used to the currency exchange. We took awhile to get the calculation right (or so we thought) and saw this 1.5L Mineral Water from France for about 1MYR, we just grabbed one each. It was hours later till we found out, we miscalculated a zero. It was a ten! Not 1MYR. The most expensive mineral water EVER drunk.

It was expensive, but it was like magic water. One sip and it quenched our thirst.

After that, we thought we should check our the bar nearby. Because we were at Seminyak, there isn't any party crowds. Just a bunch Mat Sallehs (white people) in this pub I couldn't even remember its name. We had a quick drink there and decided it was too boring and went back for a swim.

And guess what? During our swim, @evelynyan, the one friend that terrified of lizards as much as I am terrified of cockroaches, had a baby lizard ON her shoulder. When I saw it, my jaw dropped open wide knowing the consequences. Whispered to Joshua, contemplating whether to let the lizard go away on its own or to tell her. But the baby lizard seemed very comfortable on her shoulder so we decided, maybe we should just tell her what's up.

I went, "Yan, please don't panic because..." and that itself turned her face white because she thought we saw a ghost behind her. When I said, "...a lizard is on your shoulder." That was it. TNT explosion from her mouth. She screamed like it's the end of world. And that pretty much marked the end of our first night.

To be continued in Summer Paradise 3.2 | Bali, Indonesia.

Till next time...
