Popular among surfers, El Emir is chosen for its depth, great waves and natural conditions for the sport, but it is extremely dangerous for other bathers.
It is located on the peninsula on the Atlantic Coast east side two blocks from Gorlero and the Plaza de los Artesanos. El Emir, had its relevance until the construction of the Rambla that impacted in its amount of sand although also has followers by the characteristic of its coasts.
Named in this way by Emir Emin Arslan, a Turkish visitor who lived in Argentina and was fond of the beach, finally building his house on the edge of it.
In 1965 the Argentine freighter "Santa María del Lujan" ran aground on the rocks of the beach, the remains of the boat can still be seen in the water. The beach is very popular and preserves lifeguards and hostels all year round.
