The Beachfront (my first oil painting)

in beachfront •  7 years ago  (edited)

I have had this oil paint set for 2 years now. A gift from my beautiful sister in Hawaii. I finally decided to be brave and try painting. Not quite what I had envisioned, but not bad for a beginner.

Here is what I did step by step.
First I painted curtains and a wall. Then the two trees that you see. My hand moved gracefully, which was amazing.

Then I painted in the tree itself, and added bands on the curtains. I put it aside for the night to dry.

Tonight I painted the water, which was quite challenging. As the water area dried, I drew the porch railing and the wood flooring. I love wood floors, so it was natural for me to want it to have that.

I only used markers and color pencils for the rail and porch. After finishing that up, I tried adding some waves to the water. Not quite white-caps, but you can at least see waves, lol. I left the remaining area as is, to leave the look as if it were sand.

I love it! The floor has a lot of detail and nice painting ability for a beginner!

Enjoy the vote and reward!

Thank you :-) It is supposed to have a small overhang below the trees but didn't know how to do that, so it looked like it :-) I am proud of myself for completing it.

For a beginner this is really cool.

Thank you. I want to attempt more, but I want to finish my novel :-)

pretty :)
