The July 4th crowds were enjoying the bay beach at Coronado California so much that you can barely see the beach at all in this view. Normally this beach would be almost empty.
The dock you see is for the ferry that goes back and forth from San Diego to Coronado and this water is nowhere I would ever swim as it is not very clean. I grew up in this place and no one I know would swim here. But the crowds are from elsewhere and have just come for the day. The water looks pretty and inviting and so they go in.
In the background of this shot you can see part of the city of San Diego, Mount San Miguel and part of the San Diego Coronado Bridge that leads to town if you are not taking the ferry over.
