How to beat stress?

Stress is a big health problem. Unfortunately, we are all prone to stress. Another sad thing is that, if one fails to manage his/stress levels the condition can deteriorate into a depression which is too difficult to get out of.

I am writing about this topic because it’s essential for humanity. I do not usually write about health issue because I am not a health expert. However, as someone who escaped from the trap of depression, I wish to share this simple yet very important tip.

As a fact, I suffered from depression for close to 20 years, to the point that I wished to die. At times, when I walked around, I would say, “I wish this vehicle could just hit me.” Or I would say, “That tall branch is very good to climb and commit suicide there by hanging.” This is a very sad scenario.

I sought medication and I used different types, but nothing really helped me. It was sort of being temporary. When the effect of medication decreased the pain would be worse than before.

Then later, I learnt the importance of cutting the stressful moments by using positive thoughts. I doubted that but wanted to try. I tried that for a very long time. At last, I felt relief.

The simple point is that we need to use mindfulness to break the cycle of stress, which medication alone cannot achieve. There are several ways of doing this. Some people choose to use affirmations, while others use meditation. Both methods work well.

Here is a simple way one can use. Take twenty or more minutes to relive the pleasant experiences that you have heard. It could be that you trace your days on honey moon or happy days at school.

Usually, retracing activities you used to do when young is a very pleasant way of fighting stress and depression. This is because when you were young, there were probably very few stressful situations. The days of our youths are usually associated with happy moments and memories.

Handling a stressful situation

You can easily handle a stressful situation by reliving happy moments for a certain period of time, such as 20 minutes. Do this every day and your stress levels will decrease. You can also have controlled breathing, as it helps to freshen you up.

My thought is that these simple activities can help you a lot. I hope they will help someone who reads this one day. But, remember this is not a medical solution to stress.
