The false beatitude: But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. Luke 6:24

Jesus in the Gospel of Luke announces the danger of false beatitude:
"But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort.
Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry.
Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets" Luke 6:24-26.
The knowledge of beatitude is the starting point of the doctrine of the Kingdom of Heaven. For the Greek philosophy the supreme goal of man is to be happy, but happiness is a selfish desire. Jesus, on the other hand, tells us about the true and the false happiness depending on which path we choose: "We sin or we live righteously" Thomas Aquinas.
When we choose the path of selfishness, sin and error is when we enter the path of false beatitude; happiness, which is an apparent good, becomes a passing cloud carried by the wind. The true happiness is a state of the mind that is born of the eternal life: "The eternal happiness consists in the vision of God" Thomas Aquinas.

Many think that happiness lies in having many riches. The bible warns us that we should avoid the love of money. The love of money, which is a false beatitude, directs us towards the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:21-23), because when greed guides our actions, our neighbor does not matter and becomes an "object" to achieve other ends.
The apostle James exposes to us in more detail the meaning of the misfortunes of Jesus, when the search for riches opposes the fear of God and his justice we are exposed to punishment:
"Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty, You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter" James 5:1-5.
