An eraser and a long bridge

Imagine a life that came with a Staedtler eraser.

It sounds quite perfect, doesn’t it? Rewrite this experience, strike off that flaw, cross out the regrets and completely throw away that mid-life crisis.

What perfect autobiographies we’d all live to write.

But eventually at the end of the bridge, when we gather around a table or a bonfire to retell the tales of our lives, all that we have to share will be identical, faultless stories. Our strengths would be strengths no more. What should be extraordinary would no longer be special. We’d all just be the same; a planet of over 7 billion people who can’t tell each other apart.

It’s safe to say that without flaws, our strengths would have no meaning. And without a few disasters, the happy moments would turn mundane.

Get to the end of that bridge with the good and bad clenched in your palms. Collect remarkable stories along the way and on the other side, they will be heard.

Now take that first step.
