Washington DC Temple
The Washington DC Temple was announced by The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints on November 15, 1968, it was the 16th operating Temple built by the Church. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 7, 1968. The most interesting fact about the architecture is that the building seems to have no windows.
Only when inside the building you will notice that the marble had been cut so thin in places that it is translucent. The construction was completed on 17 September 1974 and opened to the public for viewing, and on 19 November 1974 it was dedicated and some 40,000 members attended that ceremony.
