As a black woman I have always loved long hair. Really long and thick hair. Unfortunately I have always loved to use the scissors as well and I have never been patient enough for my hair to grow inches long before I snip it. But right now I have made a resolve to grow my hair really long( still trying to, hoping to succeed).I have promised myself that I will be very patient till it grows; I am going to feed well. Take supplements and get enough sleep so that my hair will grow. I have also discovered other ways you can grow your hair. Let me share them with you.

  1. You have to be patient ,remember that it can't grow overnight.
For your hair to grow long it’s going to take time. Your hair grows about a quarter of an inch to half an inch every month only if its super healthy with no split ends, This only means one thing, you have to practice the heart of patience if you want to grow waist length hair.

  2. Ironically using a scissor can be beneficial to your hair.
Getting regular trims to snip splits won't make your hair actually grow faster but it will keep tips looking healthy and prevent splits from working their way up strands thus, requiring you to chop hair off more often. Don’t wait to too long for the splits to get to the top or half of the hair so that you don’t have to chop off a lot of hair, get regular trims. Get regular trims every 10 to 12 weeks in order to prevent extreme split ends just before they start.

  3. Use conditioner every time you shampoo.
Once your hair is wet you need to condition it. When you apply coloring or heat styling to your hair the hair strands starts to thin at the bottom. Using a conditioner helps to replace the lipids and proteins inside the hair shaft that has been lost during shampooing. It also helps to seal the cuticle in the hair to help prevent more damage from happening so that your hair can grow healthier and much longer.

  4. And don't shampoo every time you shower.
Try as much as possible not to shampoo every time you shower. This is because shampoo not only washes away dirt and product buildup from your hair, it also washes away essential natural oils that keeps strands soft and healthy. Whenever you shampoo always apply conditioner as well. When you really do need shampoo, be gentler on your hair by only lathering up at your scalp and then simply letting the suds slide down strands, hitting the rest of the hair as the water rinses it away.

  5. Apply an oil or mask treatment weekly.
Always use a moisture-based mask and oils weekly. It helps the hair a lot. You can make a natural oil treatment by yourself before you shampoo. Do this easy recipe:- 1 cup of unrefined coconut oil mixed with 1 tablespoon each of almond, macadamia and jojoba oil. Because oils can leave a residue on hair, he says to apply it to damp hair, leave it on for 10 minutes, then shampoo and condition like normal. These oils are able to fill strands up with fatty acids and then, when rinsed out, using regular shampoo helps seal them inside hair.

  6. Consider trying hair-boosting supplements.
Your body requires many vital nutrients to create new hair, from ample protein to a slew of essential minerals. So take a look at your diet — because while eating a balanced diet helps, you may not be getting the proper amount of all the hair-building nutrients needed to create healthy hair that can grow super-long and withstand damage. Hair supplements such as Biotin helps the hair grow healthy from the follicle and also helps the hair grow faster and longer. Remember before you take the any hair supplements check with your doctor to make sure that it does not interfere with any other medications you may be taking.

  7. Brush your hair gently.
Constant brushing can cause physical harm to your hair. When you detangle wet hair, be sure to start from the bottom and work your way up — we often instinctively go from the scalp down but that just brings small tangles into one large knot and can cause you to lose a lot of hair.

  8. Ditch your cotton pillowcase.
Use satin pillowcase instead of cotton pillowcase. Satin pillowcase has softer surface that won't cause friction the way that regularly woven cotton does with your hair, so you'll wake up with fewer tangles.

  9. Never, ever wrap your hair in a massive towel again.
What could be so bad about putting hair in your super soft bath towel? A lot. It causes so much breakage. Your hair gets caught in all the woven fibers and since most women almost always wrap it too tight around their face, all those tiny, fragile strands around your face are more prone to break. Opt for the super-thin and soft microfiber hair towels instead.

  10. Switch up your pony placement.
It's an easy move that can help maintain the integrity of your strands wherever you tend to secure your ponytail all the time, which means they'll continue to grow out strong and damage-free.

  11. Do a cold-water rinse at the end of each shower.
This really does help to grow hair and keep long hair healthy for longer .Cold water lays down the outer layer of hair more smoothly, which helps prevent moisture loss, snags and heat damage — you only need to do it for a few seconds, but this one extra step over time can make a huge difference.

So there you have it, ways in which you can grow longer, stronger hair.
