The speed record of conventional-wheeled rail vehicles is 574,8 km/h

By Alain Stoll - IMGP0492, CC BY-SA 2.0, Link

The speed record was made on April 3 in 2007 before the LGV Est line was opened for traffic on the 10th of June that year. The train in the picture is V150, a modified TGV high speed train. The normal regular top speed is about 320 km/h.

Here's a video of the successful speed record attempt:

conventional-wheeled rail vehicles

Here, many of the wheeled rail vehicles are used for cargo services.

Hi Markku. I remember seeing this on the news. it is my favorite way of travelling. One of these days I want to go on an overnight train trip in luxury.

I've always enjoyed traveling by train. I've been on night trains a few times in Finland and also in Russia. My longest train trip took me from the northernmost railway station in Finland in Kolari, near the Swedish border northwestern Lapland. I was a student and my parents and I were making holiday in a ski resort near Kolari. I had to be in Helsinki to take part in some seminar or something (that was over 20 years ago). The section from Kolari to Tornio on the sea coast some 200 km or so to the south was particularly slow because it is only used during the holiday season and it is unelectrified. It did not bother me because I just went to the restaurant car, ordered a beer (and a few more as the night progressed) and very quickly found people to talk to. The distance must have been over 1000 km.

When I was going to UDC I did take a subway train from Maryland to right in front of my school in DC.

How long was the distance?

Don’t know the actual distance but I believe it took me about 30-45 minutes to ride the subway from Fort Totten to my school.

I have been on some overnight trains but want to do it in luxury. I know obviously of the Orient Express but that is out of my price range for now. Maybe a few years of Steemit and it will be a treat.

What's really impressive about that was how the smooth ride was despite the bullet-like speed. The speed is just a number until you see it going under the bridge in this video.

haha I love how the driver rolls up his sleeves before starting.

Wow In Spanish I would say very colloquial ..

And how you hold that animal.

Well I think they need a lot of space to reduce speed, because only braking is possible that an accident happens because those wheels reach high temperatures and suddenly brake them, I think it would not be a good idea.

The truth that sounds fast that hahaha just ride me in an urban metro and the maximum speed was about 120 km / h but as it is underground it looks faster. I do not even want to imagine that it would be above 500 km / h and in the open field

It looked downright bizarre as if the video had been sped up.

Exactly, and even more at the moment where the camera focuses from the dentor of the train and the electric lines pass. gives the appearance that is in quick camera. Imagine the adrenaline of those who were in the small point recording how the train went: O and worse yet the adrenaline of the crew.

What small point do you mean?

No sorry. I meant small bridge (from where they are taking picture and recording the spectators) at minute 1:26 to be exact.

wow that fast

The fact that rapid sounds, it's just an urban metro underground shows how quickly I do not want to imagine that it's 500 km @markkujantunen
