Denali or formerly Mount McKinley is North America's tallest mountain. It is located in South Alaska and its summit is 6,190 m above sea level. The topographic prominence of a mountain means the difference in elevation of the lowest point on a contour encircling the mountain (but not containing a higher peak within it) and it's summit. Denali is the third most prominent mountain in the world after Mount Everest and Aconcagua (the tallest peak in South America).

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest in my continent.

Why was it's name changed from Mount McKinley?

President Obama changed the name.

Thanks @markkujantunen. I read that article too, after I asked the question. I meant to post the link. Sorry!

No problem.

I can’t believe I actually knew this! I forgot when I learned it though...despite the amazing mountain Alaska hasn’t been high on my list for places to visit.

I'll stoke your desire to visit Alaska with this guy's video of paramotoring over Chugach Mountains with awesome music to book.

Holy cow that looks awesome! Music makes it that much more epic too. I'd be terrified to do that though.

With ship battle it's much more fun!!

A contrast to the cold you should do on that mountain.
I hope you like it, regards

I didn't know that, oh my! And it gives so great reflection on the water!
