The most complicated international border between two countries in Europe is between the Netherlands and Belgium in Baarle-Nassau

The territories marked in yellow are Belgian territory within the Netherlands. As you can see, there are enclaves within those enclaves that belong to the Netherlands. That is some sick complicated geography. The whole mess is a result of medieval land trades and swaps between noble families. Belgium became independent from the Netherlands in 1839 (Treaty of London). The last no man's land was divided (to Belgium) in the 1950's.

There are houses that are divided by an international border. They are decreed to belong to that state on the side of which their front door is. This has been circumvented by at least one entrepreneur by building another front door. One house has the border going through its front door and thus it has two addresses.

To me looks like a counter-strike map.
It's too complicated for my 5 IQ to understand. If only people could feel my pain of being stupid...

i always wanted to go travel there on vacation

Wooow, I cant imagine how problematic some situations might be when someone has to deal with the state :o, btw have you been there?

No, I haven't. But it is interesting that in that two-address, two-state house you could sleep in a bed with one half of you in the Netherlands and the other in Belgium. I'm fascinated by weirdness like this.

ahaahahah I havent thought about it until you told me, thats so funny ahahha :D xx

very chaotic ,,, even when entering the bathroom had entered another country

That is more of a confusion in location. Anyway, Google maps might be helpful in locating a house having two addresses. Great info @markkujantunen

Waoo! ... What a curious geography. A little complicated but interesting. It reminds me of Istanbul that is part of two continents at the same time.
Saludos desde Venezuela!...

👍😎

I agree with you after seeing this diagram it is quite hard to recognise

Damn that's messier than my life

whole EU thing is about to be capable to accept this as great opportunity :) I made once card about boundares: boundares.png

Is kind a little funny the truth, house with two front doors and two doorbells and pay 2 different taxes, If it were like North Korea and South Korea there would be an armed guard at each border crossing, 24hs vigilance, what a mess.

The Netherlands and Belgium probably have tax agreements thanks to which personal taxes are only paid to one country but property taxes are probably another story. That one house, if it has two addresses, appears in the property data systems of both countries ...

Woah well that would be a pretty hard to know which country to be in. lol

There borders seem to be surprisingly clearly marked everywhere. I've seen a lot of photos of that place.
