Beehive Honey Pot Tea Rooms (review) now under new management (April 2018)

Bikers and Bushcraft Goers Rejoice because the Beehive Honey Pot Tea rooms has now changed hands and has a new owner! :) - (don’t get confused with beehive farm and the honey pot — they are both different and the dividing fence/wall between the two sets them apart, they are two separate businesses, both fantastic.

Finding a good cafe in the countryside can be difficult, to find that blend of home feel, great food, service and services and take a lot of trying out of different venues, the closest thing near to rosliston or Linton would be probably to take a drive to masseys in Swadlincote to find a place similar.

The new beehive honey pot tea room is on to a winner — lovely staff, lovely portion sizes, quality produce and fantastic coffee from a proper coffee machine served with lots of love! :)

the good

  • breakfast is still good (but not a Fishermans)
  • they have wifi (praise the lord)
  • they have very good coffee
  • mushrooms are included as standard as god intended

the bad (but not really)

  • the fried bread artery buster has vanished
  • nothing else, like, literally it’s brilliant

The old school customer would have come for the breakfast, mainly the fisherman but I think in realistic terms the boat driver would probably end up having a Sean Connery after eating a full one, but certainly a full breakfast all the same and probably I would say one of the best breakfasts in the whole of the midlands for a very long time.

Now that it’s changed hands it’s interesting to see such a massively expanded menu of items, they are certainly going for families and also the ‘tea room’ market — the open day they hosted had cute little picnic tables covered in cakes which are all made in house from the mother and daughter team who have been running a variety of similar business in other countries it seems.

I’ve put them on google guides, the wifi password was EFF19450F6 as of writing this blog post when I visited and I’ll certainly be back there for cakes, breakfast and everything else on the menu

I’ve tried both the breakfast which was similar to the old fishermen in terms of the bacon (that seems the same) but the sausage is different (I would say better/cleaner?) that the previous version.

No more fried bread thou and that might be a game changer for some of the older customers but I really don’t think it will be because breakfast life is still living and the bacon cob was awesome too, it was massive and although the price seemed like a lot it was worth every penny :)

What with the new additions like great coffee, wifi and the expanded food and tea room (cakes/sandwiches) menu I’m sure they are on to a winner here, expect it to be hopping every single day and to be packed at weekends when all the bikers turn up! :)
