Queen Bee

I saw two big beehives today as I was walking in the garden. One of them on a coconut tree that too! This is the first time I am seeing a hive on a coconut tree! The hive was at such a height and almost looked like it was a part of the branch itself. The little bee apparently travels up to 12 km a day visiting 50 to 100 flowers in search of little drops of nectar to bring home. Almost one-third of the world's food crops are pollinated by bees alone! Thousands of such bees build the hive drop by drop each day. In the lifetime of a bee this amounts to about 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey! They have strength in teamwork and numbers. Gurudev says" Sanghe shakti kaliyuge". When we want to bring a transformation, it is easier when we do it as a team. And in the centre of the hive lives the queen bee – she is the largest, lives the longest ( 3 to 4 years) and the hive lives while she is there. A bee colony can contain up to 60,000 bees at its peak. Nurse bees care for the young, guard bees protect, constructor bees build the beeswax foundation, foragers collect honey, and the queen bee lays eggs - almost a million in her lifetime! She has no time for anything else! Though they are separate bees as such, the entire hive lives like it is one organism, one mind, one life – and the queen bee is this lifeline. So fascinating! The divinity within, the guru principle is like the queen bee. The mother divine is also called Brahmaramba - the buzzing sound from the wings of the bee ( which flaps at about 12000 times per minute) is the Brahmara nada. Gurudev has made us do the Brahmari pranayama. The whole creation is pulsating with a beautiful vibrant energy. The 'hmmm..' sound eventually completes itself into 'aummmm' and connects you to this field effortlessly. The knowledge that we gain is like the precious drops of nectar. And in the presence of the Master, the queen bee, we are busy bee-ing happy and happy bee-ing busy!
