A Minnesota Beekeeper in Winter
March 14, 2018
Three weeks. Three weeks until the bees arrive. So much to do in that time. I have already told most of what needs to be done, and will probably rehash that again today. But, the biggest thing that has to be done is completely out of my control. Spring has to make more than an appearance. I have visions of hiving bees while still knee deep in snow. No good. The amount of snow is going to make getting things positioned. The top bar that needs to be moved is heavy. Heavy and lugging it through the snow will not be fun. Luckily for me, I have a couple of my boys nearby. General clean up, hunting for tools, replacing things that don’t work...like my lighter thingy.
The weather forecast is above freezing for the next ten days. Let’s hope that the sun can do it’s thing and rid a lot of the snow. Then...we have to start the next watch. When will the flowers come?
Thanks for reading along.
