I am lucky enough to live in a city that is famous for its beer, among other things. I would even call it the beer capital of the world, because there is very good beer here, breweries with tradition that are still privately owned. One of them is the Paulaner Brewery, one of the most famous breweries in the world.

Ich habe das Glück, in einer Stadt zu leben, die unter anderem für ihr Bier bekannt ist. Ich würde sie sogar die Bierhauptstadt der Welt nennen, denn hier gibt es sehr gutes Bier, Brauereien mit Tradition, die noch in Privatbesitz sind. Eine davon ist die Paulaner Brauerei, eine der bekanntesten Brauereien der Welt.

Sometimes we go there for a beer with friends because it's different from going to the centre, where all the tourists are, and you tend to get poor service.
We went to a beer tasting with a few friends last year. We tested 5 Paulaner beers. These were Paulaner wheat beer, which is my favourite, Paulaner dark wheat beer, Münchner Hell, Oktoberfest beer and Salvator.

Most breweries have a special place for regulars to keep their mugs. It takes up to 10 years to get a place there. I applied for a mug place here at Paulaner 3 years ago, but I'm still at the back of the waiting list.
In den meisten Brauereien gibt es einen speziellen Platz für Stammgäste, wo sie ihre Krüge aufbewahren können. Es dauert bis zu 10 Jahre, bis man da einen Platz bekommt. Ich habe mich hier bei Paulaner schon vor 3 Jahren um einen Krugplatz beworben, aber ich stehe immer noch ganz hinten auf der Warteliste.
Beer is still brewed here, and the system works, but it's not the big factory as it's outside the city towards Augsburg. It has a certain charm to have such a beautiful copper plant in the pub.
Hier wird auch noch Bier gebraut und die Anlage funktioniert, aber es ist nicht die große Fabrik, denn die liegt außerhalb der Stadt in Richtung Augsburg. Es hat schon einen gewissen Charme, so eine schöne Kupferanlage im Lokal zu haben.
Beer always goes well with meat, so I had ribs with salad. Our friends had something Bavarian, Obazda as a starter and then knuckle of pork with dumplings.
Bier passt immer gut zu Fleisch, also hatte ich Rippchen mit Salat. Unsere Freunde hatten etwas Bayerisches, Obazda als Vorspeise und dann Haxe mit Knödel.

Ich bin zwar ein bekennendes Nordlicht, habe aber in letzter Zeit durchaus Gefallen am bayrischen Hell gefunden und teste mich durch die unzähligen Marken.
Das beste Hell, das ich bisher entdeckt habe, ist das Zirndorfer Hell. Gerade heute habe ich ein paar Flaschen Paulaner Münchner Hell gekauft, das ich demnächst testen werde. Ich bin gespannt.
