Borna Zuber- Untappd-the Achievement hunting Beer platform

Hey everyone on Steem,

Todays post will be about one of my passions; trying out new beer.

Many of you have probably heard about the site Untappd or the App that many use for checking in beer. I started using it in 2015 and didn’t put that much effort in it like some people. One of my friends became a real sommelier for beer, he drank around 4000 different beers; amazing. Shout out to Hrabren Dobrotić, some of You from @steemitbalkan may know him, he really knows his beers.

Anyway Untapped is an App that allows You to check in a beer that You are having and for me the best use of it is that it shows what You did drink and what You didn’t drink already. I’m sometimes forgetful xD so for me the app is quite useful.

1. One feature that you have is on the App to scan the bar-code on the back of the bottle or the can with the camera of Your smartphone and it automatically finds the beer You are holding in Your hand so you don’t have to type in every time.

2. You can check out the place you are currently at to see if there are any breweries nearby or any beers that other people checked in to Untappd. When visiting a new city it’s a great tool to find a nice pub or bar that serves beer.

3. You can check out if there is a beer checked in near you in a bar/ restaurant/ shop that you didn’t try. So you can go beer hunting for the type you want in your collection.

4. and speaking of collecting, this app scratches the itch for all you achievement hunters out there that just have to have the max level on an achievement or get more achievements than anyone else; good luck with that ;) There is serious competition out there

5. It is a great way of keeping track of Your social gatherings with friends and family if you happen to drink beer during that time because You can put in beer with each check-in. It avoids putting you on the spot and showing everyone on other social media that You like to drink 15 beers in one night ;) although you have that option, just link Untappd to Facebook or Twitter and let anyone know that You tried a rare beer that you can’t get that easily ;)

6. There are some unique badges that can be earned by attending special events or performing special tasks so keep an eye open ;)
   I moved to Ireland recently and it is known for its beers and whiskeys so I hope to add a lot of new beers in the coming years to my list.

7. Business owners can use it to promote their venues or their events through this app and the activity on it

My favorite beer is Aventinus Eisbock! A winter beer with a lot of taste, oriented towards a sweet and malty experience.

My friend @arrrados introduced me to this beer and I fell in love with it immediately! I also love fruity IPA’s that are easy to drink during summer. Not a big fan of lager beer.

My score is currently 217 beer check-ins and out of that I have 193 Unique beers that I tried. Those are not all that I tried in my life because as I said I didn’t use this app for that long and that frequent.

I will come to the number 200 soon, looking forward to the achievement already :D and aiming at trying many many more, ideally at least one beer from every country in the world!
