Alpaca Blanca - Shebeen Brewing Company

Beer Review

Alpaca Blanca is a 6.5% alcohol/volume New England Style IPA made by Shebeen Brewing Company in Wolcott, Connecticut. Shebeen Brewing Company was launched in 2013 and has built a reputation as a great contract brewery for other local beer makers. They are home to the 'Cannoli Beer' made with select European grains, cream, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla to create a beer that simulates the famous Italian dessert pastry. The Alpaca Blanca is loaded with Azacca and Mosaic hops, making it full of fresh melon and citrus flavor.

The Can

The Alpaca Blanca is served in a 4-pack of full pint cans. I picked them up at a local package store. The can is awesome. It features a cool Alpaca wearing shades chewing on a hop branch up in the clouds. It's hard not to love. I made sure to bring a pack to my favorite Alpaca friend, Alekzandre Paca.

The Beer

Alpaca Blanca was a bright yellow color when I poured it into a glass. A nice soft head of bubbles formed at the top of the glass. The beer had a juicy melon taste with a hint of citrus zest. It was not too hoppy for an IPA, and not too overpowering at 6.5% alcohol/volume. It's definitely a great summer beer to cool off like a cool Alpaca. I look forward to trying more beer from the Shebeen Brewing Company in the future.

I like everything about this one.. colour, look, can art and name... It'll def be on my shortlist of beers to try from that neck of the woods... the brewery name shebeen sounds like an anglicised version of an Irish Síbín...

Síbín referred to home brewed whiskey which was then sold illegally and soon came to refer to unlicensed premises that sold alcohol. It was basically the fore runner to the modern pub... So there you have it!! 🍻

hmmm Shebeen huh? I haven't heard of them. It looks good! The can is pretty damn cool too; and by that I mean the Alpaca

Shebeen has been pumpin’ out some great stuff lately

That's one cool looking Alpaca

The can looks great!! Are you aware that "Shebeen"means it is an illegal shop where one can buy liquor!! Nice name for a brewery!!

Yes, it sure is!

It looks very promising. It would be interesting to know where it lands on the IBU scale. That alcohol content is pretty hefty for such a light looking beer. Thanks for the write up!

Nice company shebeen brewing. Beer great
