Beer Review

Spectral Beast is a 10% Baltic Porter brewed by the Relic Brewing Company in Plainville, Connecticut. Relic Brewing Company is a small batch, craft brewer that focuses mostly on IPA style beers, but over the winter I tried a few of their dark stouts and porters and they are also delicious. The Spectral Beast is a dark porter with a chocolatey malt profile and a smooth, wintery taste.

The Spectral Beast is served in a 12oz can. It features a black label with a bright blue wording which says 'Spectral Beast' across the can. A demon like face is centered in the background of the words. Overall, it's a pretty cool can for a beer.

The Beer

The Spectral Beast was a dark, beastly black color when poured into a glass. It had an aroma of roasted nuts and dark chocolate. The taste was smooth and not too sweet despite the nice chocolate flavor. Overall it was a solid winter beer at 10% alcohol content. The Spectral Beast is sure to warm you up. I look forward to trying more brews from Relic Brewing Company in the future.
